We also work with visually impaired craftsmen in Estonia. Like us, they too have a history strongly connected to the visual impairments movement. We care much for the craftsmen and the survival of the brush binding manufactory. We believe that many like us appreciate the feeling and quality of a hand drawn brush made of natural materials.

Petroleum Jelly has found its far superior replacement. This is one of the most used products here at the Fat and the Moon household. St. John’s Wort and homegrown Calendula, Comfrey and Yerba Mansa infused sunflower oil have been used by our ancient grannies and grandaddies for their healing and regenerating medicinal properties that are both gentle and effective. Calendula is great for supporting the bod with slow-healing cuts and stimulates the production of collagen at wound sites which minimizes scarring. St John’s Wort works to treat cuts and burns. Yerba Mansa is a less known herb, native to these here parts in CA- the leaves promote skin repair. Comfrey is known for its freakish ability to close open skin- so a smaller dose does it in the All Salve to allow enough time to kick out lingering bacteria. What does 10-free mean?
10-free polish excludes the toxic chemicals: Toluene, Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, Triphenyl Phosphate (TPHP), Xylene, Ethyl Tosylamide, Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) and Parabens.

...and what do those ingredients do?

Toluene affects the central nervous system and can cause headaches, nausea, dizziness and fatigue. Chronic exposure is linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage. This is the solvent in nail polish that smell like paint thinner.

Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen that has been associated with leukemia and asthma. It can also irritate the eyes, nose and throat and leads to skin irritation or cause an allergic rash called dermatitis. It is routinely used to embalm and preserve dead animals and humans.

Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) is a developmental and reproductive toxin. Our product omits all Phthalates, a group of chemicals that have been linked to obesity, allergy and asthma symptoms, reduced fertility, preterm birth and low birthweight. Exposure can affect thyroid function and may cause malformations of an embryo. They are used as a plasticizer.

Formaldehyde Resin is a derivative of Formaldehyde, it is not as toxic as Formaldehyde but can be an allergen. This ingredient is used in the manufacturing of adhesives.

Camphor is a poison that can cause seizures and disorientation. This chemical acts as a cover on your nails, depriving them of nutrients and causing the yellow staining on your nails.

Triphenyl Phosphate (TPHP) disrupts hormone regulation, metabolism, and reproductive systems. It is chemical compound used as a fire retardant in furniture and hardener in plastics.

Xylene irritates the skin, eyes and respiratory tract. It most commonly enters your body through the inhalation of vapors and is rapidly absorbed by your lungs. Symptoms include: headaches, dizziness, ataxia, drowsiness, tremors, ventricular arrythmias, acute pulmonary edema, respiratory depression, nausea and vomiting. This solvent is used in synthetic enamels, paints, lacquers and varnishes.

Ethyl Tosylamide is an antibiotic resistance. It is used in low concentrations, but is a highly viscous liquid used primarily as a drippy-to-dry film former.

Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) is associated with allergic reactions and irritation to the eyes, skin, and lungs. It is preservative added to cosmetics in order to extend their shelf life and not cause bacteria to form.

Parabens are preservatives that have gotten a bad rep for their estrogen-mimicking effects, which may trigger major health concerns like hormonal problems.

We added organic jojoba grown and pressed right at the farm in Arizona, raspberry seed CO2 for this ability to protect the skin from harmful sun rays, and passionfruit seed oil because it's luxuriant texture just couldn't be ignored. This serum is specially formulated for the sun lovers who want to worship outdoors but still repair sun damage, brighten dark spots, reduce scarring, and increase skin tone and overall health.
How to Use : Gently massage 1-3 pumps onto a clean, damp face 1-2 times a day. This oil serum is especially helpful in the healing and soothing of sunburns.

Fat And The Moon || Moon Milk

The Sitz Bath is an herbal practice of our foremothers who knew the benefits of a cup-a-tea for their most precious parts. The concept is simple, dunk your yoni into a botanical bath - proceed to chill, repeat daily until what ails your cooch clears.

Sitz bath directions : Take 3 tablespoons of the mama sitz herbs and add to a quart mason jar. Fill the jar with boiling water and let the herbs steep for a minimum of a half hour. Steeping overnight is ideal. You can gently rewarm the tea before use. Add the strong tea to a warm shallow bath (just enough water to submerge your yoni). Add a ¼ cup of sea salt to the bath for good measure. Sitz for 20 minutes +. Sitz bath once a day for a month. Yone on ice directions : Using the same tea, saturate a clean cloth folded into a shape that will fit into a menstrual pad. Freeze the tea saturated cloth, then place on top of a clean pad to wear. Like a popsicle outta the ice cream truck on a hot summer day...for your yoni. Other uses : Add tea to a peri-bottle and use as you would with water. Continue to use after postpartum repair for discomfort from microbial invasions.

The Lip & Cheek stain embodies this very idea. I’ve finally achieved the color I’d been searching for, a not too pink, a little red wine-y a little black berry-y stain, free of heavy metal based color. Alkanet and beet root give this stain its rich color and its mild and earthy scent, with just a touch of essential oil of rose geranium. Rose geranium is used in aromatherapy to reduce nervousness and tension, and has mild antibacterial, astringent and anti-inflammatory properties which all aid in the overall health of the skin. A little dab of this stuff on the apples of your cheeks and on your lips adds just the right dose of color. Because of the beeswax, this stain has great staying power. Put a little on for a subtle effect or more for a lipstick like look.

Lip + Cheek Stain || Fat And The Moon

This scrub provides the perfect combination of exfoliating and moisturizing properties. The corn flour acts as a gentle polisher and stimulator. The olive oil dilutes the pre-existing oils on your skin (like dissolves like) which allows the pore clogging dirt and bacteria to surface and be cleaned away. When you rinse your skin, the olive oil won’t strip your skin of moisture. To use, simply take about a half a' teaspoon of the scrub rub in your finger tips to spread and massage into your face. If you are in the shower, apply the scrub and leave on to let the steam open your pores. Then rinse off with water and towel pat your face dry. I’ve found I need less face cream to hydrate after my shower. In the summer, I don't even need a moisturizer. This scrub will work with all skin types.
