Elizabeth "Betty" Woodman (1930 - 2018) was an American ceramic artist who began her career as a production potter in the 1950s. Her career moved from functional pottery to works of art, culminating in a retrospective show - the first for a living, female ceramicist - at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2006.

Thomas Hirschhorn’s direct approach, reflected as much in the materials he builds with as in his practice of exposing audiences to texts he finds meaningful, is summed up in some of his guidelines, such as: ‘Energy = Yes! Quality = No’; ‘Friendship between Art and Philosophy’; and ‘Form- and Forcefield: Love, Philosophy, Aesthetics, Politics’. His ‘Ideological Jewellery’ for GEMS AND LADDERS is an affirmation of those terms. He has designed three circular, stained birch wood medallions on wooden chains, into which are carved those mottos. These are of a simple ‘hand-made’ style the artist first discovered in The Bronx in 2013 during his Gramsci Monument, and allow the wearer to declare their faith and belonging to the community of ‘Art lovers’. One chain and medallion can be worn alone, or all three together to form a cluster of complementary ideas.

Reflections by more than twenty of Owens’s fellow artists, collaborators, assistants, dealers, family members, and friends offer an array of perspectives on her work at different periods in her life, beginning with her high school years in Ohio and ending with her current exhibition. Visual Music: Synaesthesia In Art And Music Since 1900

THE THING Quarterly was an artist-run publication in the form of objects.
Issue 24 is by Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, with contributions from experimental punk group No Age and director/photographer Todd Cole.  It thematically revolves around the idea of deconstruction, a common theme in Rodarte's design work.  The record's sound and imagery are repurposed from ‘Aanteni’ (2010), a short art and fashion film produced by Rodarte, which also features direction by Todd Cole and an original soundtrack by No Age.  The film explores similar themes of balance and chaos.
The 12” picture disc on clear vinyl features two tracks by No Age.  Side A features the ambient 9-minute soundtrack from ‘Aanteni’ with an abstracted film still by Todd Cole.  Side B features a 13-minute live version of the track, “ruined” by looping the sound repeatedly on itself, with burnt remnants of Cole’s same film still.  A highly conceptualized inner sleeve and gatefold jacket house the issue, displaying more of Cole’s imagery.  The issue also includes a free download of both No Age tracks.

THE THING Quarterly was an artist-run publication in the form of objects.  It’s like a magazine, except that each issue is conceived of by a different contributor and published as a useful object.
Issue 33 is a "trap & release" set consisting of a handblown drinking glass and postcard of the world. It is intended for spiders and other wayward insects that find their way into your home.  Use it as an effective and empathetic mechanism for redirection, or as a way to relax with a cold beer or a hot tea while viewing the world in miniature. Either way, we love the poetry found in this architecture of compassion.

The first large-scale exhibition exploring contemporary abstract painting. Looking back to Andy Warhol’s seminal Shadow, Oxidation, and Rorschach paintings as among the many touchstones that underwrite the contemporary impulse to abstraction, the show features artists such as Julie Mehretu, whose large-scale works densely layer maplike markings; Josh Smith, whose lush canvases often explore a single theme repeatedly, such as his signature; and Tauba Auerbach, whose highly formal explorations of materials challenge conventional modes of perception. The Painting Factory: Abstraction After Warhol

The taping at MOCA Pacific Design Center on June 24, 2010, of the special episode of ABC's Emmy Award-winning daytime drama General Hospital was staged on the occasion of the return of character Franco the artist, played by actor and artist James Franco, and celebrates his exhibition at MOCA.
