THE STAR OF SAN JUAN
Julia Rivera is a talented and well-educated painter who has pleased many art collectors with her daring use of color, the internal rhythms of her compositions, and above all, her playful and refreshing imagery.
In her painting, Rivera, who was born in the Bronx in 1965, and who studied art in Florence, New York, and the School of Plastics Arts of Puerto Rico, creates an attractive, fairy tale universe where carefully chosen objects – clocks, fruit, little toy cars, bottles and elongated chairs – are arranged in order to let us see their essence in a surreal but celebratory manner.
Mallarme pointed out that a good poem has to be enigmatic. I believe that good works also have to possess magic and mystery. A good work of art does not let us know everything. Influenced by Gorky, Miro, Chagall and Matta, and quite aware of what has happened in the field of ‘lite’ neo-figuration during the last three decades, Rivera combines humor and poetry to conceive well balanced scenarios where the mundane and metaphysical establish dialogue about time and the human condition.

Trump suffers an extreme case of narcissistic personality disorder. The potential consequences for the human race of this man’s mental state, now that he has acquired power sufficient to destroy civilization with the push of a button, suggests a story line from a vintage action-hero comic book: the fate of the world at the mercy of an all-powerful villain.
The number one action hero of Trump’s childhood was Superman, who was the leading 1950’s DC Comics character, the first action hero to have a TV series with a large and loyal audience tuning in every week. Fighting for ‘Truth, Justice and the American Way’, Superman’s enemies were an endless progression of comic book villains.
Over the many decades of Superman comics, some of the story lines have featured Superman overwhelmed by evil forces, a rogue villainous Superman who becomes a direct threat to truth, justice and the American way. That rogue genre of Superman comic books provided me a metaphorical stand-in for Trump for my new series ‘The Adventures of President SuperDude’.
In this series I have collaged comic book images of a rogue Superman into wall-hung three-dimensional cartoons composed of typewriter pieces, plastics, and other found objects, mechanically connected with nuts and bolts as well as springs. These machine-like constructions illustrate the dysfunctional, illogical machinery already evident in the nascent Trump administration.
They also foreshadow the likely disasters ahead resulting from the executive branch of the American government headed by a mentally ill man.

Laurent Elie Badessi is a Franco-American fine art photographer born in France. He belongs to a family with three generations of photographers. From an early age, this enabled him to explore and appreciate the art of photography. Badessi started his career in Paris and continued working abroad before moving to the United States in the early 1990s.
Badessi uses symbolism, mythology, and historical and cultural references to create his images. The study of the interaction between him “the photographer” and his subject “the sitter”, and the exploration of the impact of photography on people, are both fundamental vectors in his artistic quest. His work often addresses subtle and relevant questions on social, political, and cultural issues, such as the relationship with nudity, religion, war or the environment. Innocence (2009-Present) explores “the fragility of life”, an important topic in his work.
Solo and group shows of his work have taken place around the world in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, London, Milan, Rome, Paris, Nice, Barcelona, Kuwait City, Beijing, Monaco and Dubai. Badessi lives and works in New York City.

Brooklyn based artist exploring our relationship to the natural world, the passing of time and the fragility of memory. Using a range of techniques from a self-developed method of layering and tearing rice paper as a way of “adding some time” onto the paintings to working on Japanese papers while they are completely saturated with water, materiality and texture play a huge role in the work. Using these layered and weathered surfaces the paintings become a pursuit to examine the most extreme fringes of human’s relationship to time, trying to find the eternal, the transient and the infinite in nature. The hazy, half-remembered depictions of the natural world evoke a melancholic spirit but still manage to remain optimistic and hopeful.

About Chris Marmier:
As soon as Chris Marmier could hold a pen, he started drawing and has never stopped. Born in a bi-cultural family that travels throughout the world, he's always observed, reproduced and reinterpreted the little details of a constantly changing environment.
After studying visual communication in Paris, he has worked in advertising agencies as art director. Currently based in Amsterdam, he is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. The sides of his notebooks have always been filled with little figures that later expanded into a first exhibition. Armed with ink and acrylic paint, he expresses his own vision of our world(s).

ABOUT ZAHRA NAZARI
Zahra Nazari was born in Hamedan, Iran to a family of architectural enthusiasts. Throughout her entire life, she has pursued a career as a visual artist on the foundation of this inspiration from her youth. Her large-scale abstracted architectural paintings are formed by ideas about identity, immigration issues, and how globalization is changing our perceptions. Ms. Nazari has given talks and participated as a panelist at institutions such as NYU, Columbia University, and Pratt Institute in New York City. She has been interviewed by and published in Hamptons Art Hub, ZH Magazine, Hyperallergic, and many more. Her work is included in private and public collections throughout the US, Canada and Asia. She has been a recipient of The AIM Fellowship from the Bronx Museum, The Mentoring Program from New York Foundation for the Arts; a Visiting Artist Fellowship from Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, The Cooper Union School of Art in New York City and Vermont Studio Center. Whether in the commercial realm (sustainable fashion), in the interpersonal (being / ethics / philosophy / spirituality / writing / performance), or in the world of fine art, my work is relentlessly purposeful and constructive.
Using aesthetics to infiltrate the human mind, I communicate alternative paradigms and cosmologies to stimulate imagination, inclusiveness, unity, and well-being with the understanding that these values will echo, proliferate, and populate.
Work Statement
MACHINE DREAMS is a collection of healing artworks. The healing mechanism functions as follows: Like a Rorschach test, the image is embedded with abstract referential forms, which each individual viewer automatically interprets based on their previous life experience and current identity. Thus, the image acts as a mirror to the viewer’s soul. The image feels intimately familiar hence comforting, while simultaneously the frantic lines and composition create a sense of overwhelm, discomfort. The image as a whole is highly attractive, forcing a resolution to the comfort / discomfort dichotomy, which is inherently a healing process.

My work is like a type of photography, but using clay. It becomes like diaries or maps that are recording the many walks I take around the city. Whilst walking, I am looking at overlooked details in the landscape, things deteriorating, things seemingly unimportant, or things under threat to disappear. The essence is capturing things that are significant for documenting a particular place at a particular time. As I am walking and rewalking I discover new and different things each time. I touch and explore textures and fissures in the landscape with my hands and body and I take prints of what I find with clay – like 3-dimensional photography. Back in the studio, I make plaster moulds from the clay prints made whilst walking. My cast pieces are made using the same moulds with very different results each time. I'm letting the pieces grow organically, and sometimes partly collapse, according to the laws of gravity or entropy. They are never really ‘finished’, but rather frozen somewhere during this process. Textures on the surface look like growth rings or skin.
I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.

Andrei grew up in New York City and was inspired from an early age by the work of his uncle Dimitri Petrov a celebrated DADA Surrealist painter and his father a set designer. He attended LaGuardia high school for Music and Art as well as SUNY Purchase and New Paltz. Andrei continues to live and work in New York.
Andrei Petrov: ‘In my approach two roads are taken: a natural, Hudson River School path of light and drama filled grandeur that encounters energetic animated gestures, muscular surfaces and bold strokes familiar in Abstract Expressionism. Beneath numerous glazes and opalescent layers swaths of paint dash about this stage and often emerge from the lower depths of which there are many levels.
Freezing the action allows a probing slow-motion breakdown of the components that comprise the canvas. Think of a frozen lake: leaves, twigs, nuts, fish, are all suspended in ice at different depths and angles. Piercing the surface, thick islets of paint interrupt a placid color field and create vast non-linear perspective from the root to the fruit of the gesture. Tension is created by the juxtaposition of animated bursts of paint with the slow contemplative layering found in paintings of the Hudson River School. The invitation to explore this amber-like world is now extended. Sometimes the brush is mightier than the pen.’
Andrei Petrov has exhibited in New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, New Mexico, Boston and Florida. Mr. Petrov’s work can be found in the collections of The Cooper Hewitt Museum, The Four Seasons Hotel, The Fairmont Hotel, Hotel Plaza Athenee and the Segal Corporation, to name a few.
He was selected as the honored Visual Artist at the esteemed Festival in Silicon Valley, California in 2016.

Julia Rivera is a talented and well-educated painter who has pleased many art collectors with her daring use of color, the internal rhythms of her compositions, and above all, her playful and refreshing imagery.
In her painting, Rivera, who was born in the Bronx in 1965, and who studied art in Florence, New York, and the School of Plastics Arts of Puerto Rico, creates an attractive, fairy tale universe where carefully chosen objects – clocks, fruit, little toy cars, bottles and elongated chairs – are arranged in order to let us see their essence in a surreal but celebratory manner.
Mallarme pointed out that a good poem has to be enigmatic. I believe that good works also have to possess magic and mystery. A good work of art does not let us know everything. Influenced by Gorky, Miro, Chagall and Matta, and quite aware of what has happened in the field of ‘lite’ neo-figuration during the last three decades, Rivera combines humor and poetry to conceive well balanced scenarios where the mundane and metaphysical establish dialogue about time and the human condition.

Born in Vancouver, B.C., Spanish-Canadian artist Andrea Mindell Cohen’s educational background spans undergraduate studies in art history and photography at the Lorenzo de Medici School in Florence, Italy, fashion and textile design from the International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto, Canada, and a BFA from Otis/Parsons College of Art and Design in LA.

After working many years in the fashion industry, culminating in her clothing line Agent 99, Andrea settled in Barcelona, where she began working as a textile and graphic designer. It was during this time that her collages, prints, and graphic creations started taking on a life of their own, leading Andrea to develop a fine art practice. In 2011, her practice brought her to Tel Aviv, Israel, where she completed her first series of paintings.
Currently residing in her home in Barcelona, Andrea’s work is exhibited and collected internationally. Her vision continues to evolve, drawing from her own colorful upbringing and extensive travel, steeped in a combination of traditional and contemporary cultural influences.

David Paul Kay is a New York City-based American contemporary artist & muralist. Originally from Eastern Europe (former Soviet Republic of Georgia) David migrated to the United States in 2008.
As a self-taught artist, Kay has always experimented with various different techniques; though his career evolved soon after moving to New York City early 2009 and developing his signature black & white style.
Using vibrant lines, shapes and intricate compositions David transforms blank surfaces into complex yet simple to read narratives. Kay's obsession with detail, versatility of scale and perspective lead to the creation of hundreds of his drawings, paintings, murals and sculptures.
David's work has evolved into various different series: "Matter", where artist experiments with the fabric that makes us all, the fabric of the universe; "Psychoanalysis", series of thought experiments used as an unique form of storytelling; "Icons"; homage to universally recognized iconic figures; "Underdogs", exploration of daily struggles of being and belonging. Kay has developed numerous conceptual series such as “Seven x Seven” where the artist dives into a theory of compartmentalizing life into segments of transformations once every seven years; “The Circle of Time”, series of twelve interconnected pieces morphing into a clockwork loop all connected to number 12, exploration of how we understand and harness the phenomenon of time.
Throughout the past decade David’s work has been exhibited and included in private collections all over the United States, Europe and the Middle East, including artist residencies in Los Angeles, London and South of Spain, solo and group exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris and Dubai. David has created numerous large scale interior and exterior murals in major cities of the US, Europe and Africa, including the recent “Mona Lisa V” in Wynwood Art District for Art Basel Miami 2019.
The artist has collaborated on global campaigns and private commissions with major brands such as Montblanc, PayPal, Cadillac, Equinox and others. In 2015 David painted a brand new ATS-V for cadillac live at Pulse Miami Beach during the Art Basel week, in 2017 he was commissioned to create murals at the Equinox Orchard Street showroom and offices in Lower Manhattan followed by large mural commission at PayPal Headquarters in New York. In 2018-2019 David Paul Kay collaborated with Montblanc on multiple projects including a global campaign “Montblanc x David Paul Kay”.
David’s work has been featured in Forbes, Architectural Digest, Vogue Italia, Wallpaper, Haute Living, Gotham Magazine, AM New York, Journal du Design, VAMP Malta and more.
