Title

Primo epitomizes the archetypal chair. Its design comprises of only the most basic elements: four legs, seat and backrest. The strictly vertical orientation of its legs gives the chair a strong architectural presence. However, the formal strictness is disrupted by the curved backrest which seems to levitate on the ends of the chair’s hind legs. Standing on its own, primo is distinctively sculptural. When multiplied, the chair conveys an unassuming rationality – making it ideal for a wide variety of uses in the home and contract markets (dining, working, auditorium seating, waiting, and the like). Primo’s basic model is made of solid beech. The black lacquered version brings out the chair’s strong and elegant silhouette. In gold, Primo celebrates itself as an ultimate icon. The Mater Alu Bowl Table is an interpretation of the successful Bowl Table crafted in sustainably harvested mango wood. The aluminum is partly recycled and is casted by hand in a small Indian workshop supporting their local craftsmanship. The legs are made of milled hollow steel rods and can be detached for ease of labour and transportation.

Triangolo Chair

Radice is a three-legged wooden stool, the result of Industrial Facility and Sam Hecht's second collaboration with Italian furniture producer Mattiazzi. The studio decided to push Matiazzi further into the exploration of robot-craftsmanship, but this time to challenge structure as a diagrammatic concept as well. Radice finds its underlying beauty and simplicity in its structure. It is the bringing together of what appears the front-half of a traditional four-legged stool, with a single back leg - the "root." It is a visual improvisation, where two things meet unexpectedly. Radice has tension in its form and it is a slight surprise that the third leg works as well as it does to resolve the overall structure. It could be viewed as structurally diagrammatic, yet is made comfortable visually and physically because of how its third leg supports the seat. The backrest is small and reassuring, allowing a coat or handbag to rest on it while the seat is open for large and small individuals. It is light both visually and in weight, using no screws or metal fittings, yet also passing stringent BIFMA standards to ensure it is structurally sound, stable, and reliable.

A multi-purpose type of scissor used for trimming somewhat thick branches. Most suitable for cutting small branches from bonsai and fruit trees. The blacksmith industry in the Banshu region in the Hyogo prefecture of Japan was said to have started long ago when a Katana factory was located there. What began as an industry producing straight razors in 1744, now manufactures a variety of products including utility knives, traditional Japanese straight razors, Japanese gripping shears used for cutting thread, pruning shears, and floral shears. Each piece is painstakingly made by hand by skilled craftsmen using the same techniques that have been employed for generations.

A chair, based on Josef Hoffman's design from 1930, combines his interest in Art Nouveau and simple shapes with technology which has been used in Bystrice pod Hostynem for over 150 years. This variant combines a plain wooden seat with a woven cane backrest. TON manually bends furniture in the same workshops where this technology has been in use since 1861. However, TON moved the features of this unique technique further more and mix them with contemporary designers’ thoughts. Their tables and chairs become a connection of quality, innovative shapes and a legacy to the place that has learned to understand the wood for generations.

ENO responds to the demands of the digital workplace. Thinking of the autonomous digital nomad who can work almost anywhere, the office itself is increasingly becoming the space for exchange and communication. The format of this worktable is a hybrid solution for creative and office workstations as well as a conference table. A single ENO can accommodate four to six people as a worktable or host up to ten people for a conference. Optionally integrated cable management provides fully customizable electrification and data link options, if needed. ENO can be infinitely extended in length. Individual units can be chain-linked by a joint legframe, creating a connected structure without disturbing redundancies.

Wegner’s simple corded seat stool is an example of the Danish tradition of designing modern furniture using sticks and dowels. Wegner J16 Stool

As with its counterparts, the Mattiazzi Forcina Chair and Table, the stool design is reminiscent of the shape of a bobby pin—hence the name Forcina, which means “hairpin” in Italian. Forcina Stool

With the Spanish Chair Mogensen expanded upon his work with solid oak and saddle leather. The chair was launched in 1958 as part of an innovative living space exhibition, in which all tables were removed from the floor to create an open living space. It’s ironic that something called The Spanish Chair would become synonymous with Danish design. However, the origin of its name and its distinctive aesthetic render the chair worthy of its reputation. Børge Mogensen drew much of his inspiration from traditional chairs of other cultures, such as English Windsor chairs and the Shaker movement in America. In Spain, a traditional way of making furniture involved the use of sturdy leather to construct the seat as part of a wooden structure – hence the name of what went on to become one of Mogensen's most celebrated designs.
