Maša and Jon Kleinhample started Klein Agency in 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium, with an idea to weave together their independent areas of expertise into one creative venture. The couple migrated their studio to Southern California early 2017 and today they design out of their agency in the Arts District, Downtown Los Angeles. Klein Agency understands and applies its design process in a holistic way, creating for its clients new untold stories, where all components come together in an elegant and coherent narration.

Although there is rigor and formalism in the planning of PLANEfurniture, the finished pieces are casual, pleasing, and human-friendly. How we sit and how we see design is at the root of this collection. Sophistication and refinement do not preclude modesty and abbreviation. There is a deep pleasure that can be derived from simplicity. There can be a truly luxurious feeling aroused by humble handmade objects. There is a timeless dimension to PLANEfurniture. It attempts to echo the pioneering works of the modernist, avant-garde designers; yet it is contemporary, as all good ideas are. The furniture and objects from PLANEfurniture, because of their neutral forms and minimal physical and psychological space they occupy, coexist seamlessly with other good designs - even objects from an entirely different visual vocabulary, country of origin, or era.
PLANEfurniture is an idea whose time has come: the concept is to create unfussy, beautiful furniture that makes you think, holds your body, eases your mind, and sits well within your budget. Four series - the PLANKseries, WEDGEseries, BLOCKseries, and RODseries - round out the indoor/outdoor roster of planar wood and steel rod designs. The results are pieces that can populate any domestic interior and rekindle the pleasure of simplicity. PLANEfurniture is in the permanent collections of SFMOMA, The Palm Springs Museum, and the Univesity of California, Santa Barbara (ADC, Architecture and Design Collection, Gebhard Archives).

The WEDGE series has a softer, more traditional character and may see wider distribution as a result. Slatted lounge chairs, ottomans and benches are christened Arrowhead for the profile of their members, and mahogany versions have a strong affinity to the classic Adirondack patio furniture. The differences are equally significant. Arrowhead pieces are like a well-tailored jacket of rough tweed: rugged yet refined, familiar in outline but elegantly detailed and much more compact than traditional models. A lounge chair has a corded back and seat, and the holes for the cords are staggered to create a subtle pattern around the edges. A sidechair appears at first glance to be a sensuous version of the PLANK chair, until you notice the details: a flared back that is rounded to conform to the width of the seat, and then flares out below like a well-cut shirt-waister. And the wedge supports differ in width from front to back, establishing a rhythm in the profile of the chair.

The Capo series was initially designed for the Italian restaurant Capo in Shanghai, where the interior design concept was based on a basilica and possessed an old world charm of masonry enclosure appointed with handsomely crafted detailing. The chair series also takes on those qualities of heritage, where the simple and modern form is enriched with tailoring details that evoke old-world sensibilities.
The Capo is a well-balanced equilibrium between sophistication and utility, between classic and contemporary aesthetic.

It’s believed that ancient Egyptians may have had the technology to harness electricity and create light thousands of years ago. This technology is referred to as the light of the Dendera Temple. This customizable pendant light combines ancient Egyptian mysticism with modern home design. Dendera is suspended above dining tables, kitchen islands, bar seating; wherever people gather for good conversation.

Planalto Sofa

Dubois is a bed system crafted in premium solid hardwood and luxurious fabrics. The wraparound headboard provides a sense of privacy, while the exposed timber frame and generous expanse of upholstery celebrates the quality of materials and craft. Suitable for residential or contract environments, the bed is available with a tall headboard, with or without integrated bedside tables. Designed by Luca Nichetto and manufactured by De La Espada for the Nichetto brand.

Tall Dubois Bed

Shaker is a dining table inspired by the simple, honest and utilitarian approach of the movement after which it is named. A round tabletop in solid wood or marble rests upon a timber leg frame that recalls that of a refectory table.

Inspired from his engineering background, Uri Davillier set out to design a light whose shadow was as equally beautiful as the object itself. He created a lamp that emphasizes interference patterns created by the play of light through a transparent material.
H and-torched glass rods housed in a laser cut steel and brass structure. UL certified. Available in three sizes:

The Tower Lamp

Low in its stance, wide in its grip, Rocker One creates the perfect, soft shell for release and rest of your body. Laser cut precision is utilized to create dimpled cross bars, allowing the steel to seamlessly engage with the leather sling. The two materials come together in their upmost purity, without any seams, stitches, bolts or screws.

Maša and Jon Kleinhample started Klein Agency in 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium, with an idea to weave together their independent areas of expertise into one creative venture. The couple migrated their studio to Southern California early 2017 and today they design out of their agency in the Arts District, Downtown Los Angeles.  Klein Agency understands and applies its design process in a holistic way, creating for its clients new untold stories, where all components come together in an elegant and coherent narration.
