The Paul Frankl series of furnishings composed of a table, side table, and console with shelves, was designed around 1930. The structure of the tables, realized by squared section frame, is composed of elements whose curved angles are in a figure "c", joined together with screws. The composition of equal elements, staggered and assembled, is comprised of two decades of design for metal tables adopted by Kjaerholm. Paul Frankl used this squared section frame with these types of curved angles on other designs as well.
Born in Vienna in 1886, Frankl moved to the United States in 1914, and by the 1920s was well-established enough to open his own NYC gallery, promoting his famous skyscraper furniture style. As a designer, merchant, instructor, and writer, Frankl was a founder of, and a great proponent for, American Modernism throughout his career.

Paul Theodore Frankl 18" Side Table

The IJhorst Side Tables were designed in 1953 by artist Constant Nieuwenhuys. The slender frame and simple design language make this a timeless design that is loved by lovers of vintage design. The IJhorst tables are characteristic of a turning point in Constant's oeuvre, marking the transition from his Cobra years to the start of his New Babylon project. The black epoxy-coated base of the tables is formed by the construction of thin wire steel that elegantly displays pressure and tensile forces. The characteristic chassis fits perfectly with the spirit of the fifties and still looks modern. Designers such as Charles & Ray Eames and an artist like Naum Gabo used a similar clear line play in which construction and aesthetics coincide. The top is available with an American walnut veneer or with matt laminate (ruby gray or black).

The Saarinen Tulip Table is perhaps the most iconic piece from Saarinen's Pedestal Series.  Constructed of cast aluminum, the Saarinen Table flows from top to bottom and from side to side in a fluid exchange of lines. The Saarinen Tulip Table shown here is a favorite as it can be used in a variety of spaces, but is most commonly used as a coffee table.
Though controversial in his time, Eero Saarinen’s furniture continues to be popular 60 years after some of his initial designs.  His focus on finding a solution that would bring his furniture into a harmonious setting with the room was always at the forefront of what he considered important.  This philosophy could be seen over and over during Saarinen’s abbreviated 51-year life.  Fortunately, this attitude continues to impact furniture design and architecture today.

Eero Saarinen’s 1957 Pedestal Series is one of the most iconic of the mid-20 th century design.  Created to rid interiors of the “slum of legs”, this Finnish designer turned the interior design world on its ear with this revolutionary creation.  Though he initially wanted to use plastics, the large range of furniture associated with the Pedestal Series was developed with cast aluminum.  The range included chairs, side tables, coffee tables, and dining height tables.  Eventually, Saarinen experimented with the design of furniture and created other types of tops for the Pedestal Series and even an ashtray that was used in the TWA Terminal at John F. The Tangled Coffee Table was designed by Carolina Wilcke in 2015. For Carolina, who is trained as a goldsmith, architecture and art are an important source of inspiration. This is clearly reflected in the construction and the refined details in the frame. By experimenting with steel profiles and mold constructions, Carolina designed two interlocked volumes that together form a whole. The small part of the coffee table can be moved across the full width, making it a very dynamic table in which accessories can be placed on three tables. The Tangled Coffee Table has a black epoxy-coated steel frame and can be finished with clear glass or smoke glass. The Tangled series by Carolina Wilcke for Spectrum consists of this coffee table, a cabinet, a display case, and a side table.

The Peek Mirror by Midj is a modern trompe-l’oeil.  The designer Studio Pastina borrows the concept of a breakthrough of the space from the art world: it plays with depth and perspective through the arc shape, to create a refined collection of mirrors.
The arch shape and the smoky color on the side bands give the illusion of greater depth, while the central space is reserved for the surface reflection. The mirror becomes dynamic and becomes an object of great personality.

This teapot is a part of the tea and coffee set, designed in 1924. Only one complete set is known to exist. The teapot, on the other hand, is in several museums, a.o. in the “Museum of Modern Art“, New York.

The teapot is the part of the set which most strictly follows the formal principles of the Bauhaus school. Circle, globe and square are the basic forms of the construction.

The sugar-cream service that Marianne Brandt designed came into being in 1924, one year after Brandt's entry into the metal workshop of the Dessau Bauhaus. It is still made by a silversmith made of 925 sterling silver and ebony. Although the service is far from the average commodity in terms of price and material, it is an example of the struggle for an absolute practical value. As Brandt reported, experiments continued until the spout was drip-free. Today the service impresses with its sculptural expressiveness.

The S4 Cabinet and S4-2 Cabinet were designed by Hanne Willmann for Tecta in 2018.  Hanne has always had a penchant for Bauhaus, most recently because of her teaching assignment in Dessau, and now due to the new S4 display cabinet, which she has created for Tecta. “Tecta’s formal language fascinated me right away,” says the designer with a studio in Berlin. “A focus on the essentials and a philosophy based on construction are the hallmarks of Tecta’s products and also reflected in my designs.”

Vilmos Huszár is considered the great unknown of the DeStijl group of artists, which he co-founded. Numerous works by the versatile painter, who also created interiors, have disappeared today. Huszár provided important impulses to the art world and maintained close relationships with the avant-garde in Berlin and Paris. As a designer of logos, cigarette boxes, posters, fabric samples, and furniture, he was not afraid of everyday and commercial things. But first and foremost he remained a painter, which can also be seen in the cheerful, elegant hall wardrobe that was built around 1925.  The hooks are, of course, shown in the colors of De Stijl.

Eero Saarinen is well known for his design of the Pedestal Series, including a very hard to find piece, this ashtray. In the 1950s Saarinen developed the pedestal form during his research for a competition announced by M.O.M.A. (The Museum of Modern Art) that was looking for an "organic design in home furnishing collection" in which Eero Saarinen participated along with Charles Eames. Through this competition, his most famous style was born. Saarinen designed this pedestal ashtray in accordance with his tulip series. It is one of the only accessories that was ever put into mass production designed by Saarinen.
Saarinen's Tulip Ashtray would go onto be used at the famous TWA Terminal at John F. Kennedy Airport, a building that was designed by Saarinen.  This ashtray can also be seen in various scenes of AMC's popular television show "Mad Men".

This 1924 ashtray is one of the earliest designs by Marianne Brandt and dates back to the beginning of her activity at the Bauhaus. lt consists of a hemisphere of brass on a triangular base and a removable, nickel-plated lid with a triangular opening for the ash.
In 1925 this ashtray was illustrated in Bauhaus Book No. 7 by Walter Gropius, “Neue Arbeiten der Bauhauswerkstätten”, Albert Langen Verlag, Munich. In order to ascertain dimensions and materials for the reproduction, TECNOLUMEN had at their disposal one of the original prototypes, courtesy of the Bauhaus Museum in Berlin.

Philippe Nigro designed the Moleskine Folding Top Desk for Driade with a light look: a top in birch plywood with oak finishing with an opening flap door set on a structure in steel sheet painted in matt black with details in oak.  Its small size and linear design make this elegant desk perfect for use in different places - in an office, or as a console in a living room or bedroom.
An accessory kit is available - which contains a side panel, front panel, and sliding element for paper - to allow the desk to be personalized and emphasize the image of a collected personal space. In the collection’s “nomadic” spirit, an available stool functions well in any room in the house, although it was designed to be used with the desk.  The stool is height-adjustable with a round oak seat set on a tripod structure in aluminum sheet painted black.  The stool has a playful linear design that matches the base of the desk.

Wilhelm Wagenfeld designed several versions of this very practical table utensil; which unfortunately has gone out of use. The first type, from 1923, was Wagenfeld’s piece of work to qualify as a journeyman. lt had a rounded form and a glass lid. The third version from 1927/29 had an elegant saucer and ebony handles. The second version, which TECNOLUMEN chose for this reproduction, is from the early Bauhaus period. lt has clear lines and a simple shape, which go to serve and accentuate the function.

The Tangled Cabinet was designed by Carolina Wilcke in 2015. Carolina drew the inspiration for this sideboard from the steel window frames that were often used in industrial buildings. By experimenting with steel profiles and constructions, two interlocked volumes were created that together form a whole. That Carolina was trained not only as a designer but also as a goldsmith, is reflected in the refined details and graphic lines of her designs. The Tangled series that she designed for Spectrum consists of this cabinet, a coffee table, a display case, and a side table. The slender frame of the Tangled sideboard consists of two volumes of matte black epoxy-coated steel profiles. There are glass tops on four levels in the frame, clear glass or smoked glass can be selected. With its slender shape and industrial appearance, the Tangled cabinet is a real eye-catcher in the room, without being predominantly present.
