With the sublime 416 series, launched by Artifort in 1960, renowned designer Kho Liang Ie made a clear statement that was ahead of his time. In his voyage of discovery undertaken within strict social constraints of the late 1950s, he sought the contrast between soft and rigid structures. This resulted in a modular seating program that looks remarkable from any angle.
The minimalist frame of the 416 series consists of a careful balance between brushed stainless steel and black coated metal elements, finished with slats made from oak veneer. The padded seat cushion provides maximum comfort.
By reinterpreting original elements, Artifort gives the sublime 416 series a contemporary touch, without detracting from its unique elegance and style.

The Split Bentwood Lounge Chair was designed by Arik Levy in 2014. The Split Bentwood Lounge Chair is part of a complete series that includes an armchair, lounge chair, side chairs, and tables. The series is based on an expert ability to bend beechwood, a craft the Czechs have been carrying out for over 150 years.  In this design, Levy uses a contemporary shell and legs to form the chair.  The Split Bentwood Lounge Chair uses split bentwood at the point where the legs meet the seat, giving the chair an extremely unique high design appeal.

This Pierre Chareau Lounge Chair was designed for the home and office of Dr. and Mrs. Dulsace for use in the "petite salon blu."
Pierre Chareau was born in Bordeaux in 1883. As early as 1900 he began his artistic career as a student of the famous Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he focused on architecture and design. By the 1920's he was already known in the design world for his complex structures and innovative use of architectural space. Pierre Chareau began to explore an interest in Cubist space by the mid-1920s, and soon after his designs became highly sculptural. He is known for his use of combining materials, such as lightly hammered steel, unpolished metals, and rich mahogany.

Megan Cantilever Lounge Chair By Artifort

In his final year as a Bauhaus student in Weimar, Gyula Pap helped out Georg Muche and the construction department by designing a floor lamp for their experimental house, “Am Horn”.
The light source is a special design feature in its own right – an exposed incandescent light bulb with a mirrored dome, which had just been invented at the time. The rays of light are channeled downwards, making the light source appear dark. The light is absorbed and refracted by the etched pane of frosted glass in such a way that it appears to float like a shining layer above the thin, nickel-plated metal tube.
This lamp was shown as an example of functional design in the Bauhaus Book No. 7, “New Work at the Bauhaus Workshops”, published in 1925. The only original model of the BST 23 was exhibited at the experimental house known as “Am Horn” and has sadly been lost.
This reproduction is based on a photo and a detailed drawing by Prof. Gyula Pap. Although no serial parts could be used for the production, with the exception of the socket and cable, all original dimensions were strictly adhered to.
Special tools had to be built, and metal parts had to be twisted and refined to faithfully recreate the original design and appearance of the floor lamp.
