The Press Room Chair was designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1958 for the UNESCO building in Paris. Rietveld designed the armchair as a comfortable lounge chair at the reading table for journalists in the press room. However, due to the tight budget and limited time, the design was not implemented and Rietveld was forced to replace it with furniture he had made earlier that year for the World Exhibition in Brussels. Fortunately, the original designs, drawings, and models have been preserved, so that the Press Room Chair was released in 2014.
Rietveld's handwriting is clearly recognizable in the clear lines of the Press Room Chair. Rietveld also applied the angle in which the seat and backrest are placed, in combination with the high-looking armrests, in his famous Red Blue chair. The armchair can be upholstered in various fabrics and leathers. Thanks to the special finish with the double stitching, the sleek, clear surface distribution of the armchair is accentuated. The armrests can be made from oak, natural or black-stained, or American walnut. The swivel base is available in matte black or stainless steel and is equipped with a return mechanism so that the Press Room Chair always returns to its original position. To protect the floor, the swivel base is equipped with harness leather foot straps.
Although the armchair is the perfect place for relaxation, Rietveld was of the opinion that a chair was not by definition intended to rest in. On the bottom of every Press Room Chair there is a poem by the German poet Morgenstern, in which this idea is perfectly expressed. The Press Room Chair is part of the Rietveld Originals collection that is exclusively conducted by Spectrum worldwide.

Pavo Real Armchair By Driade

Mies van der Rohe's MR30 Lounge Chair was designed in 1931.  The MR series was the first tubular steel frame furniture structures that Mies designed. Inspired by Mart Stam's cantilever frame, Mies' continuous shape is seen in other furniture pieces by this master.
Mies van der Rohe’s term “less is more” will be forever ingrained in the philosophy of modern industrial designers and architects.  His impact on furniture design and architecture is as strong today as they were in the 1930s.  Born in Germany, Mies van der Rohe was the Director of the Bauhaus from 1930 – 1933.  He immigrated to the United States in 1938 and continued his design career.  He is responsible for a number of famous architectural projects including the Seagram Building in New York, the Berlin National Gallery, and 860-880 Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.
This lounge takes advantage of the aesthetic qualities of tubular steel, a supposedly utilitarian material while exuding luxury through the contrast between padded leather and the minimalism of its chrome frame.

Merano Lounge Chair By Ton

The EB 27 StL Floor Lamp designed by Eduard-Wilfred Buquet is just one of several revolutionary lighting pieces designed by this Frenchman.  Designed in 1926 and 1927, Buquet applied for patents for his famous desk lamps and their unique joints in February 1927.  Little else is known about Buquet as the man from the Paris suburb Montrouge was and remains a kind of phantom in the history of design.
Buquet’s design was presented to an audience through publications in French magazines in the late 1930s. It became one of the most popular table lamp designs of the Art Deco period and the 1920s, and it was often integrated in the interior designs conceptualized by architects like Le Corbusier, Marcel Breuer, Joubert and Petit, Maurice Barret, Louis Sognot, and Marcel Coard.

As the name itself says, the Chair from Tonon is made from a thin, flat, flexible, and padded form, which is bent to obtain a unique shell. The shell elements are held in place with special steel fixings which simultaneously create an attractive decoration. The shell is suspended, almost floating, on an arc of black coated aluminum, connected to its base using the same material. The slightly flexible shell gives an appearance of lightness, but also offers the highest level of seating comfort.

Pierre Chareau designed this floor lamp in 1928 in France.  This style of shade became a common theme in other lighting elements created by this famous modern classic designer.  The design is recognized as a revolutionary achievement for the time.
As early as 1900 Chareau began his artistic career as a student of the famous Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he focused on architecture and design. By the 1920's he was already known in the design world for his complex structures and innovative use of architectural space. Pierre Chareau began to explore an interest in Cubist space by the mid-1920s and soon after his designs became highly sculptural. He is known for his use of combining materials such as lightly hammered steel, unpolished metals, and rich mahogany.

Following the tradition of pushing the limits of bentwood furniture manufacturing while creating beautiful chairs, tables, and accessories, TON has created the contemporary classic Tee Coat Stand.  The Tee Coat Stand uses traditional wood milling techniques developed by Michael Thonet in the mid-1800s to create this accessory that is very useful in a dressing room, bath, or bedroom.

The Gebruder Thonet P29 Coat Stand is the result of a series of predecessors of different bentwood shapes and types that have been continually improved from 1880 onwards. Pierre Chareau designed this floor lamp in 1926 in France.  The "Nun" Floor lamp is perhaps Chareau's most famous lighting piece.  It is considered sculptural, as well as functional.

The Apelle DNB Lounge Rocker was designed in 2013 by the Spanish designer Beatriz Sempere. With the use of high resistance steel and thick hide leather, Sempere was able to create a complete series of modernist seating.  The complete Apelle family includes a side chair, lounge chair, ottoman, stools, and a table.
Similar in size and appearance to the Apelle Lounge Chair, Sempere used a curved base to allow this unique piece to rock.
The Apelle series is comfortable enough for home use but has been tested for commercial use.  As a visitor chair, it is extremely stylish.  As a dining chair, the Apelle offers complete contemporary elegance.

This lounge chair is from the Florence Knoll Lounge Collection. Florence Knoll can be attributed to changing American workspace with her philosophy based around "total design." Knoll's integrated use of architecture, interior design, textiles, and presentation changed the way design was approached. This philosophy was also applied to space-saving techniques for office space, which is still used today.
In 2002 Florence Knoll was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts' prestigious National Medal of Arts. While working with the greatest masters of contemporary design as the Associates Planning Unit Director for Knoll, Florence Knoll was able to design her "lounge collection" in 1954. More than a half-century later, Florence Knoll holds her own place in design history.

Florence Knoll Lounge Chair

“MT”, the acronym defining this collection designed by Ron Arad, in English is pronounced “empty” meaning “vacuum”.   Emptiness is really the key element of this project.  The volume is hollowed out to presents the chair's interior, finished in different colors. The MT3 Rocking Chair by Driade is made through the merging of two polymers, even though this process takes place in a blast furnace.   Once extracted from the mold, a five-axis laser cuts off the lateral ends of the product, revealing the two-tone side of the MT3.  It is an extraordinary technical feat that creates an absolutely elegant piece of contemporary design that suited for indoor and out.
