The Split Bentwood Stool was designed by Arik Levy in 2014. The Split Bentwood Stool is part of a complete series that includes an armchair, lounge chair, side chairs, and tables.  The series is based on the Czech's expert ability to bend beechwood, a craft they have been carrying out for over 150 years.  In this design, Levy uses a contemporary shell and legs to form the chair.  The stool uses split bentwood at the point where the legs meet the seat, giving the stool an extremely unique high design appeal.

Italian designer Martino Gamper suggests a new interpretation of the concept of informal seating with the bentwood stool Trio.  The tripod structure plays with the GTV brand icons, proposing bentwood elements of different angles, recalling the geometry of the triangle. Three sections of the offset semicircle define the linking support of legs, which holds a triangular seat with rounded profiles.

The SZ 02 Armchair was designed in 1960 by Martin Visser. The pure material, the clear construction, and minimalist design language are typical of Visser's work. The armchair has a slim tubular steel frame, in matte chrome or powder-coated black, and a saddle leather cover. The strong saddle leather requires craftsmanship in processing and has the natural property to stretch through use. That is why the cover on the underside of the seat is provided with a leather lace with which the seat can be tensioned again. At the back of the backrest, the same is made possible by a buckle, a functional detail that makes this timeless armchair so special!
The SZ 02 is available in three colors of leather: natural, dark brown and black. Saddle leather is a natural product and discolors through use and under the influence of light. The latter is especially applicable to natural saddle leather and provides a characteristic and lively image.

The Bertoia Wire Chairs are surprisingly strong and comfortable while maintaining a magnificent appearance. Bertoia once said of his famous wire chairs, "If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes right through them." The wire chair truly is a masterpiece. Harry Bertoia and his designs have made him one of Udine's great legends.
Born in Udine Italy in 1915, Harry Bertoia started drawing at the age of 13. Just two years later Harry Bertoia emigrated to Canada and then the United States in 1930. During his diverse design career, Harry Bertoia's designs spanned from sculptures to jewelry to furniture. During the 1940s, Harry Bertoia worked closely with Charles Eames on a number of ergonomic projects in order to create more practical forms of furniture. In the 1950s Harry Bertoia was a member of the famed Cranbrook Academy of Art. There Bertoia created his most famous furniture with five different wire chairs. These magnificent pieces have been used in hospitality, commercial and residential applications.
The Harry Bertoia Wire Chair is a product of this institute's exchange of mutual ideas among some of the most famous designers in the world such as Charles Eames, Eero Saarinen, Florence Schust Knoll, and Ray Kaiser.

The clean lines and functionality of Le Corbusier’s LC10 Table make it one of the most popular designs from the first half of the 20th century. Le Corbusier’s LC10 embraces the International Style in which he created furniture, buildings, and artwork. Designed in 1928, the LC10 Table features sturdy chrome finished steel legs and a glass top.  The 48” size is one of the most popular as it can be utilized as a desk, dining table,  or an occasional table.
The LC10 Table is available in a number of coffee and dining height sizes.  Le Corbusier’s collaboration with Charlotte Perriand ensured that through separate manufacturing of the frame, a variety of sizes could easily be formed.  This was a lesson surely learned from the earlier furniture pioneer, Michael Thonet.

The No 150 Bentwood Stool design continues to be one of Michael Thonet's most popular bentwood designs.  Its elegant curved back and durable seat make it a favorite in a cafe, restaurants, and residential applications.  This particular version is available with a wide variety of seat upholstery options, including a range of fabrics and leathers.  The frame may be specified with a range of classic stains or contemporary designer lacquers.
Starting as a modest cabinet maker, Michael Thonet's mass production of bentwood furniture changed the world in the mid-1800s.  With such items as the A14 Bentwood Chair and Cafe Daum bentwood chairs, this pioneer quickly grew.  Over time his sons assumed various roles within his company.  One of the most important would be August Thonet, who would go on to design this stool in 1895.
Using traditional steam-bending techniques at an original factory, Ton continues to follow in the footsteps of Michael Thonet.  It is a rare opportunity to own a bentwood stool created the same way it once was over a century ago.

Sleek, smooth and functional is an apt description of Rene Holten's Lotus and Low Lotus. Made from Cristalplant, a new composite material that is snow-white, a hard as marble, soft to the touch and easy to clean.
The design of the Artifort Lotus and Low Lotus stretches the frontiers of this material to its limits. The way in which the molded tablet flows into the shell is only possible with this sort of composite material.  The central stainless-steel base with its four slim legs emphasizes the sloping shape of the shell. For the residential market, there is the Low Lotus: a version designed for relaxation. Like the office version, this low, wide fauteuil with a smaller tablet is a delight to the eye.

Pierre Paulin designed the Tulip Chair in 1965. As if Pierre Paulin had premonitions of Flower Power, the Tulip Chair spreads its simple, half-open petals around the sitter, inviting and warming at the same time.
There is a dignified high Tulip and an elegant, low 'Little Tulip'. Together with the footstool, it makes for an expressive, very comfortable combination.

Minimalism, exclusivity and an eye for detail.  The Postparkasse series was designed for the headquarters of the Post Office Savings Bank in Vienna, Austria. It represents a clear expression of modern Viennese art.  The solid bentwood beechwood structure is both embracing and ergonomic.  This item introduced a new concept to the Postparkasse series - the use of wood with a square, not round cross-section, to create a more rigorous design.  The complete range includes an armchair, chair, stool, and bookshelf.

This Charles Rennie Mackintosh Short Ladderback Chair was designed to be used in various locations throughout the Willow Street Tea Rooms. It is Mackintosh's most successful version of the traditional ladderback chair. It is interesting to note that the earliest chair thought to have been designed by Mackintosh was a ladderback designed for the bedroom of David Gauld in 1903. He used the same ladderback again in 1901 in Windyhill, Kilmacolm. For this house, he designed a second ladderback. However, unlike this present model, both of these earlier chairs are very traditional and show very little of the style of Mackintosh.
This reproduction is as the chair was originally designed and produced for the Willow Tea Rooms. However, after the chairs had been in use for a while, reinforcement was added to the back of each chair behind the ladder. This reinforcement was added to the chairs in use in the Tea Room and, consequently, existing examples all show this modification. There is no evidence to show that Mackintosh suggested or approved this modification. In fact, it appears that the clients very often repaired, reinforced and reproduced the furniture originally designed by Mackintosh without asking for his intervention or approval. At any rate, all the early photographs of the Tea Room show this chair before the addition of this reinforcement and it is obvious that such an element is foreign to Mackintosh's original design. Consequently, this present reproduction is without this additional piece.

Michael Thonet's company designed the No. 811 Bentwood Stool in the 1920s. Sometimes also called the "Prague chair" the A811 bentwood chair is often attributed to Josef Hoffmann, but is more likely the design of Josef Frank. The No. 811 bentwood design was first introduced as the A64F and had a different version of front legs than later versions.  The No. 811 Bentwood Stool is also one of the first versions of bentwood chairs to be offered in a variety of colored finishes that were not previously offered.  The No. 811 Bentwood Stool was one of the company's most popular 20th-century designs and is still widely used by designers worldwide.
In the 1840s Michael Thonet began experimenting with bentwood furniture made by bending wood that had been steamed into a soft and pliable state. Over the next 20 years, Michael Thonet and his sons developed the processes and machines that would allow them to build bentwood furniture in unprecedented quantities. It was in this time period that he developed what has become thought of as the "traditional" Michael Thonet designed bentwood chair: one featuring a backrest and back legs made from a single piece, a rounded cane or laminated seat, and front legs. In his effort to reduce the number of pieces used in building bentwood chairs, he had to connect the main elements that existed on different planes.  This could only be achieved by bending wood.  Michael Thonet's further experimentation with bending wood yielded amazing results.  By the 1850s, Michael Thonet's bentwood styles had become mainstream, and he was on his way to creating a catalog of bentwood chairs yet to be rivaled.

No 811 Bentwood Stool By Ton - Fully Upholstered

Through the years, many variations of the No. 4 Bentwood Armchair have been made.  This particular model is made at one of Michael Thonet's original factories located in the Czech Republic. The factory still exists over 150 years after its inception creating bentwood in classic as well as contemporary styles.
The B4 Cafe Daum Bentwood Chair was introduced in 1850.  The No. 4 Bentwood Armchair was first used commercially by the proprietor of the Cafe Daum in Vienna.  It is still used there today.  The B4 bentwood chairs were initially made of bent mahogany and laminated wood strips.  They later appeared in a slightly different form as Chair Number 4 in Michael Thonet's furniture catalogs.
Michael Thonet's new No. 4 Bentwood Chairs were lightweight, elegant, strong, and characterized by grace and fluidity of line which made them unique in European furniture of the period.  These features make it still a popular bentwood chair today for residential and commercial spaces.

This Mies van der Rohe Inspired Two Seat Sofa clearly embodies the spirit of his Pavilion Series offering both the tailored look of a tufted upholstery as well as the sleek streamlined appearance of other pieces such as his BRNO chair. It is a wonderful example of the Bauhaus style offering a combination of simple form with a modern touch of comfort.
Mies Van der Rohe was born in Germany in 1886. At the age of 19, he moved to Berlin and starting working with the Art Nouveau architect and furniture designer Bruno Paul. Just a year later, he received his first commission for an architectural design for a local philosopher's home. Over the next 10 years, he studied the works of Frank Lloyd Wright and Karl Friedrich Schinkel. By 1912, he had his own studio in Berlin.
In 1927 Mies Van der Rohe designed one of the design community's most famous buildings, The German Pavilion at the International Exposition in Barcelona Spain. In it contained one of interior design's most famous chairs, the Pavilion Chair. The Pavilion in which he presented his Pavilion Chair had a flat roof supported by columns, while the interior was constructed of glass and marble.  Mies van der Rohe was Director of The Bauhaus School from 1930-1933. In 1937 he moved to Chicago where he became the Head of the architecture department at the Illinois Institute of Technology. During the next 15 years of his career, he designed skyscrapers for nearly every major city in America.
Mies van der Rohe is generally recognized as one of the founding fathers of Modernism, and the most purists of Modern architects. A constructional clarity, free-flowing space, and careful detailing, in accordance with his famous maxim "less is more" characterize his work.   Mies van der Rohe ranks as one of the most important twentieth-century designers based on his range of designs - from the functional simplicity of the cantilever chairs to the luxurious comfort of the Pavilion chair.

The model was originally designed by Adolf Loos, with an austere steam bentwood beech design that slims the backrest and redesigns space.  The ring-shaped seat stabilizes the feet bent from a single piece of wood. The Artifort C 684 Three Seat Sofa is a 1968 design from Kho Liang Ie. Kho Liang Ie was a prominent Indonesian designer. Born in Magelang, Indonesia in 1927, he emigrated to Holland in 1949. Early in his career, he handled larger contract projects such as the Holland Travel Office in New York and the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. His work with Artifort started in the mid-1960s.
This particular item is considered to have restrained simplicity. The Artifort C 683 Sofa has a channeled upholstery, where its related Artifort C 684 has a tufted upholstery.

Kubus designer Josef Hoffmann was born in Austria in 1870. At the age of 17, Josef Hoffmann started studying classic architecture in Brunn. From there he studied architecture under Karl Freiherr von Hasenauer at the Academy of Fine arts in Vienna. At that time, von Hasenauer was one of Europe's most popular architects. After von Hasenauer's death, Otto Wagner, Europe's most famous 19th-century architect took over the class. Josef Hoffmann went on to work for Wagner later in his career. Two of Hoffmann's enduring furniture designs, the Hoffmann Kubus and Hoffmann Velvet Chair, have gone on to be very popular into the 21st century.
The Josef Hoffmann Kubus Armchair was presented at the International Exhibition held in Buenos Aires in 1910 on the centennial of Argentinean Independence known as la Revolution de Mayo. Josef Hoffmann had a preference for geometric composition based on the square that was later attributed to his own formal language called "Quadratstil." This language was evident in everything Josef Hoffmann created both architecturally as well as in his innovative furniture designs. The Kubus design includes the derivations of the loveseat and three-seat sofas, as you see here.

The Thonet No 18 Bentwood Side Chair is a great classic that made much of the history of GTV. Conceived by the company during the second half of the nineteenth century to meet the precise needs of practicality, the No.18 is one of the most popular bistro chairs worldwide. The bent element that embellishes the central part of the back also makes the chair more comfortable. Moreover, several variations are available to add a unique touch of style. The back and rear legs are made of a single piece of wood, still bent with steam today, as tradition dictates.

The Apelle TrioSide Table was designed in 2013 by Beatriz Sempere. With the use of high resistance steel and thick hide leather, Sempere was able to create a complete series of modernist seating.  The complete Apelle family includes a side chair, lounge chair, ottoman, stools, and tables.  This particular item is especially well suited to go with the popular Apelle Lounge Chair.
The Apelle series is comfortable enough for home use but has been tested for commercial use.
The Apelle Trio Side Table features a hide leather-covered tabletop with an optional edge saddle stitch.  Bellissimo!
