An extremely contemporary design, the Søborg chair bridges the contrast between industrial and handcrafted solutions, along with the textural properties of solid wood, plywood and steel. All compounded with a lightweight and solidly grounded aesthetic.

In 1948, Børge Mogensen participated in MoMA’s ”low-cost furniture” international design competition together with his friend Hans J. Wegner. With homes in Denmark serving as the inspiration for the exhibition, he conducted his first experiments with plywood shells.

Mogensen exhibited the first prototype for the Søborg Chair in 1950. His intention was to make a shell chair that could be produced with new machineries of the time. The rounded shaped seat and back in moulded plywood combined with a solid wood frame, reflected how Mogensen fused his international contact with traditional cabinet-makers’ solutions and his own functionalist design identity.

A true functionalist, Mogensen believed that furniture should encourage freedom of personality. With its discrete design, sturdy construction and generous width, the Søborg Chair expresses this perfectly in any environment… at home, in restaurants, in working areas or any socially engaging space.

Now manufactured in plastic, the Eames Elephant is available for all to enjoy.

Spine Lounge Chair

Jens Risom's furniture, the first collection designed for and manufactured by Knoll, helped establish the company as an early provider of modern design in America. The Lounge Chair's combination of gentle curves and geometric angles exhibit Risom's Scandinavian design sensibilities. A deep seat pocket and tall backrest allow for comfortable and supportive reclining.

Born in Copenhagen in 1916 and emigrated to the U.S. in 1939, Jens Risom made Danish modernism an important part of U.S. design. In 1941, he joined forces with fellow Danish émigré Hans Knoll, who soon launched his famous company with 20 pieces of furniture, 15 of which were designed by Risom. Many of these items, including the Risom Lounge Chair, are still produced by Knoll today.

Risom Lounge Armchair

The Yuh (pronounced "you") offers versatility and personality in a simple, elegant floor lamp. Taking up only a little space, the Yuh primarily provides direct glare-free downward directed light. A slim opening in the top of the shade provides soft, ambient upward illumination. The shade pivots, rotates, and slides on the vertical stem to optimize light distribution. A mechanical system provides great freedom of movement, so the light can always be set in the ideal position in the workspace, living room etc. Built-in LED technology provides high quality light with stepless dimming down to 15%.

Shade and base are die cast aluminum. Stem is extruded brass. Available in matte wet-painted white or black with matching cord. Cord measures 10' with high/low/off switch on top of stem. Includes built-in LED.
