Originally, Norm Architects designed a table especially for Bjarne Hansen – the creative director and founder at Menu. The table was meant for Bjarne's living room at home. While at it, Norm also manufactured some tables for their own studio. All three of them have used those tables ever since. After being tested and used for years by Menu's founder and design managers – it is safe to say that the design is approved. The blacksmith industry in the Banshu region in the Hyogo prefecture of Japan was said to have started long ago when a Katana factory was located there. What began as an industry producing straight razors in 1744, now manufactures a variety of products including utility knives, traditional Japanese straight razors, Japanese gripping shears used for cutting thread, pruning shears, and floral shears. Each piece is painstakingly made by hand by skilled craftsmen using the same techniques that have been employed for generations. This gardening sickle features a 7" blade, and is handmade in Japan

The Forma Candle Set began as a small sculpture inspired by components of Bower's furniture line. The designers loved the dynamic relationship between the various forms and materials but felt that it needed another element to bring it to life on your table top. The hexagonal brass tube can be used as a match extender to light the candle when the wax burns low in the glass pillar. The round glass mirror acts as the perfect place to set down a used match and is also a great surface to display and burn cones of incense.

Block Chair

The armchair, inspired by a model from 1930 by Josef Hoffmann, blends his interest in Art Nouveau and simple shapes with manufacturing processes applied in Bystrice pod Hostynem since 1861. The armchair is therefore more geometrical, but bears the clear features of the manual bending technique of TON. TON manually bends furniture in the same workshops where this technology has been in use since 1861. However, TON moved the features of this unique technique further more and mix them with contemporary designers’ thoughts. Their tables and chairs become a connection of quality, innovative shapes and a legacy to the place that has learned to understand the wood for generations.
