Guldkorn Cream was created just for us in Sweden by our wonderful friends at MyHavtorn. We adore their original Face Cream for its lightweight but cushy texture and nourishing ingredients, including MyHavtorn’s signature sea buckthorn oil; over the years, we found that our clients also craved something just a little richer but still soothing and comforting for a broad range of skin types. Luckily for us, they had one at the ready — a formula they had mixed up for their own family that had become a mainstay during the cooler months in Sweden. As they put it, “it’s one of our golden grains.”
“Golden grains?” we asked. The Swedish term, guldkorn, is used to describe something very special that’s been hidden away — like this formula. MyHavtorn adjusted it for us by removing the essential oils in the formula, letting the subtle scent of its natural plant oils shine through. Like the original Face Cream, it has a yellow-orange color from its high concentration of pure sea buckthorn oil, which has a host of soothing benefits, especially for those with rosacea. But instead of the original formula's safflower and argan oils, this blend features borage and rosehip oils for their ability to nourish and promote skin’s elasticity, along with anti-inflammatory shea butter. It’s just a touch richer than the original, by the most subtle and absolutely perfect amount.

Like all of Dr. Macrene’s creations, it's worth every penny; it wouldn’t be on our shelves otherwise. This non-sticky, translucent serum, housed in a glass package with a new precise applicator, is packed with lip-volumizing hyaluronic acid spheres, peptides to smooth wrinkles, ceramides to prevent water loss, and Sunflower Seed Oil and Shea Butter unsaponifiables for swift, highly efficacious moisture.

de Mamiel Soothe, part of the Sleep Series collection, is one of those tools that may seem unassuming at first, but soon reveals itself to be a genuine little gem.
Many of us have noticed recently how much the quality of sleep affects every aspect of our lives — including the condition of our skin. In her clinic, Annee de Mamiel saw this firsthand and developed her Sleep Series to address the foundational need for good sleep. The Sleep Series, as Annee describes to us in our Brand Spotlight interview (well worth a read!), is far more than a set of typical “sleepytime” lavender essential-oil blends: each formula is designed to work with the body, addressing the root cause of sleep disturbances.
At the base of each Sleep Series blend is a composition of herbs, Watermelon seed oil, and Passionflower oil, chosen for their abundance of magnesium, zinc, and B vitamins. Like all the Ellis Brooklyn scents, it's free of endocrine-disrupting phthalates and parabens, but far more sophisticated than the typical essential-oil fragrances that are typically the only option if you're avoiding those questionable ingredients. The phthalate-free fragrance, made in small batches in New York, is housed in an environmentally-friendly glass bottle from an Ecocert supplier; the biodegradable Bakelite compression cap is petrochemical-free. And it all will look gorgeous on your dresser.

Don’t you want to go there right this minute? Luckily, this scent is all of that, bottled.

Activist Mānuka Oil is the only 100% pure essential oil we carry. Our entire team adores Activist’s Manuka honey — it’s the first thing we all reach for when we feel a cold coming on — and given our love of all things Activist, we were thrilled to learn that they were creating a Manuka Oil.
This essential oil is 100% pure, wildcrafted, and distilled from the leaves and twigs of the New Zealand Mānuka Tree — the same source of the Activist honey. Activist’s founders, Gabrielle and Luke, used this oil themselves before adding it to their line of products: given its powerful antibacterial properties their outdoorsy lifestyle, it was a staple in their medicine cabinet to disinfect and treat minor cuts and abrasions.

Activist Manuka Pure Essential Oil

Straight Up Seaweed is like the low-key, energizing little sister to our ritualistic, soothing Ayla Sea Soak. This detox treatment is prepared and packaged in a way that makes it a great solution for frequent soakers whose bodies feel stressed or pushed to their limits; with just one powerful ingredient, Straight Up Seaweed provides a pleasantly sweaty and simple sense of release so that you can feel a little less bogged down.
Why we made it We have been thrilled with the response to our original Sea Soak, the luxurious full-body remineralizing, rejuvenating, "turn-my-body-into-jelly" detox bath. Many (including us) have developed a full-blown, healthy addiction to it — and we wanted a low-key way for us frequent soakers to enjoy our seaweed fix even on days when we didn’t feel up to the full ritual.
So our innovative seaweed forager came up with a solution: the same Michelin-star-quality giant kelp from Santa Cruz, but quick-baked so that we can make more of it. The effect is different from the sun-dried marvel you’ll find in our Sea Soak; there’s very little gel to be squeezed out of this quick-baked kelp. And if you want to add salt, you can add your own sea salt from your kitchen. (Salt is always a good idea from a remineralizing perspective, and it will help pull a little gel into your bathwater to make it nicely nourishing and viscous. But in a pinch, you can go without.)
The results Straight Up Seaweed is simpler than its big-sister Sea Soak. But WOW, does it detoxify, because the baked seaweed retains the same detoxifying effects — ones that far surpass those of any other seaweed bath we've tried. And while the Sea Soak is soothing and calming and restorative, Straight Up Seaweed leaves you with a little more of an “I just detoxed myself!” pep. You'll feel a little lighter: relaxed yet energized, as though you've let go of some baggage so that your body and mind can do their thing.
