Noboru (meaning “to climb” in Japanese) takes inspiration from the American Shaker movement and its efficient simplicity as a minimalist stepladder that easily turns into a stool or side table. Designed  by Canadian duo MSDS Studio, the lower step can slide in and out with the aid of a short handle under the surface. Crafted in gorgeous solid oak, it has a slim profile that counters the usual tool-like feeling of such pieces, say the designers. “We wanted to produce a step stool that could be unobtrusive and useful when it wasn't being used for accessing the out of reach.”

Gemo II takes its name from the Venetian "gèmo" which means yarn ball—and this table lamp puts the emphasis on the distinctive shape and texture of its mouth-blown opal glass shade. Designer Luca Nichetto maintains studios in both his home city of Venice and Stockholm and his heritage is also seen in the incised lines on the asymmetrical globe that suggest the artisan technique of glass engraving called “molatura.” Hand-assembled at maker Parachilna's Barcelona headquarters, the light has a convenient on-cord dimmer and a flat steel base in black-chrome electroplated finish.

Jens Risom's midcentury seating has been dubbed the "Playboy Armchair"—taking its name from a 1961 magazine layout of the design icon among his then-peers. Stellar Works is reissuing C140 with its original caned backrest as well the upholstered-back variant C142. In ash or walnut, the chair is sheathed in a Kvadrat textile by midcentury Danish designer Nanna Ditzel. Emblematic of the era, Jens' C140 has even been noted in White House photographs of President Lyndon B. Johnson signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
