Tobia Scarpa was born in Venice, Italy in 1935. Both he and his sister Afra, siblings of the renowned Italian architect Carlo Scarpa earned degrees in architecture from the Università Iuav di Venezia in 1957. From 1957 to 1961 Tobia worked as a glass designer at the prestigious Murano glassworks of Venini before the two designers opened their own design office in Montebelluna. The Soriana sofa won the Compassa D’Oro for design in 1970.

clearer geometry, combined with the Italian aesthetic evident

Designed around an array of modules, the Flaneur Sofa

By Lassen is now relaunching Flemming Lassen's sofa design from 1935, naming it Vilhelm in honour of Flemming Lassen's father, the sign writer Hans Vilhelm Lassen. Vilhelm is a beautiful padded three-seater with the soft curves and taut expression that are typical of Flemming Lassen's design expression. The Danish architect and designer mastered the balance between the minimalist and the voluminous in designs that challenged conventions. A visionary modernist, Flemming Lassen created architecture and furniture that was ahead of their time.
The rounded corners frame the sofa perfectly and make it possible to place the sofa in the middle of a room. The shape invites flow and life to unfold around the sofa, and the stylish gentleman strikes a handsome figure, also when seen from the back. The back and armrest are tufted with a total of 24 little buttons, a beautiful and unpretentious detail that only makes the sofa more charming.

Description

Like a sleekly fitted suit, Portuguese designer Rui Alves' sofa cuts a mean silhouette. Fondly recalling memories of his grandfather's bespoke shop, Tailor delineates comfort via its molded and upholstered shell encased in a frame made of steam-bent solid oak. Melding the new with the timeless,  wooden joints carefully frame the round shape of the sofa, giving the piece a handmade look and feel. Smartly upholstered cold-foam cushioning adds the final welcoming touch.

The Elle Sofa features soft edges and a clean-lined design, making it the perfect lounge sofa for modern enthusiasts. The low seat height and 4.5" tall legs create the illusion that the sofa is floating just above the floor, adding a visual elegance to the cozy and comfortable design. The Elle Sofa system is comprised of separate modules that can be ordered in any combination to create sofas and sectionals. Available in two depths where standard units have a seating depth of 27.5" and Deep units have a seating depth of 35.5".

The seat and arm cushions are engineered with layered foam core and wrapped in a generous amount of feather and down to provide the perfect amount of support. Each cushion cover is precisely sized to give a soft, casual appearance without looking loose. Down back cushions complement the softness and appearance of the seat, while the L-shaped frame retains a crisp, tailored form. Covers come in a wide selection of specially sourced fabrics. The covers are attached by Velcro for easy removal for cleaning or replacement. Not available in leather.

Beetle Sofa

The 3300 series was created for the SAS Terminal at the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, one of Arne Jacobsen's architectural masterpieces. In harmony with Jacobsen's architectural work at that time, the 3300 series is cool and formal. Furthermore, the 3300 series exudes Jacobsen's unfailing sense of line and proportion and his ability to design everlasting classics. Arne Jacobsen got the inspiration for the 3300 series from a sofa, which he had designed especially for his own home in the 1940s. The 3300 series forms an elegant contrast to the organic shapes of the Egg and Swan chairs, also designed especially for the Royal Hotel. The 3300 series consists of a 1-seater easy chair as well as a 2-seater and 3-seater sofa and is sublime for waiting and lounge areas as well as for private homes. The series 3300 is available in various types of leather and fabric upholstery and always with a chromed base.
