Cold Picnic was formed in 2010 by partners Phoebe Sung and Peter Buer, both of whom have backgrounds in fine arts and worked in corporate fashion design - Sung as an apparel designer and Buer as a print designer. The pair met in Boston in 2006 while in school and have been living and working together ever since.
Deeply influenced by national parks, film, interior design and art, the couple began working on various side projects together in an effort to view traditional crafts filtered through modern sensibilities. Before long these projects coalesced into Cold Picnic, a line of textiles and home goods.  Cold Picnic’s work explores imagined and misremembered landscapes, and the effects of time and the elements upon their surfaces.
Sung and Buer design all Cold Picnic pieces from their Brooklyn studio and they work with artisans in India to produce their handmade rugs, quilts, and bath mats, and a family owned company in New Jersey to make their knit blankets.
Cold Picnic has been featured in publications such as the New York Times, Style.com, Sight Unseen, Refinery 29, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle. Their studio has been photographed for Coveteur, Elle Sweden, Brooklyn Magazine and Racked New York, and the line is widely available across the United States, as well as in select international locations.

David Benjamin Sherry: American Monuments is a landscape photography project that captures the spirit and intrinsic value of America’s threatened system of national monuments. In April 2017 an executive order called for the review of the 27 national monuments created since January 1996. In December 2017 the final report called on the president to shrink four national monuments and change the management of six others, recommending that areas in Maine, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans be offered for sale, specifically for oil drilling and coal and uranium mining. American Monuments focuses on the areas under review, with special emphasis on those that have already been decimated. Sherry documents these pristine, sacred and wildly diverse areas using the traditional, historic 8x10" large format. The resulting 31 photographs—all tipped in to the book by hand—not only convey the beauty of these important and ecologically diverse sites, but also shed light upon the plight of the perennially exploited landscape of the American West.

Multi-benne Stain Stick - Genet

Known for her daringly honest portraits, Neel loved to paint people in all their complexities—to penetrate and reveal their fears and anxieties, how they defiance and survival. She also loved to paint the unadorned human figure. Her nudes, in particular, explore the body with frankness while celebrating the individuality of each of her subjects, and they exemplify the freedom and courage with which she approached her work and her life.
Through her paintings and works on paper, Neel was able to free herself from the expected inhibitions and crippling taboos that were placed on women and focus on the beauty and nuanced complexity of flesh and the human body. In their mastery of form, color, and implied social commentary, her nudes are as relevant today as when they were painted.
Freedom documents the solo exhibition of the artist’s work at David Zwirner in New York in 2019. Including works that span the 1920s to the 1980s, this presentation focuses primarily on the nude figure—whether male or female, adult or child—and demonstrates how Neel rebelled against and challenged the traditional perceptions of sexuality, motherhood, and beauty in our society. The catalogue includes newly commissioned scholarship by Helen Molesworth and an introduction by Ginny Neel of The Estate of Alice Neel.
