A thin, shaped, sheet of brushed or anodized aluminum composes the four elements of the upper part.
True to Serge Mouille's original production philosophy, each piece is made entirely by hand in France using the original forms, molds and techniques created by Mouille nearly 70 years ago. Each piece is stamped and numbered. Only 600 pieces are produced each year at the Mouille factory and distributed around the world.

First designed in 1947, the George Nelson Bubble Lamp Collection has stood the test of time. The simple structural shapes with the innovative use of taut plastic over fine steel wire were born from George Nelson's frustration to buy a Swedish-made silk lamp which produced a soft light. The mandate for designer Tassilo von Grolman was to create a new aesthetic for the enjoyment and enhancement of tea drinking. The result was a teapot with its own unconventional harmony.
Function and contemporary design were truly synthesized in the classic teapot. The pot made of heat resistant borosilicate glass is cradled in a stainless steel frame. Tea leaves are placed in the stainless steel mesh sieve, and hot water is poured. The tea leaves unfold freely, as they release their full aroma; after the appropriate steeping time – 3 to 5 minutes – the sieve is removed and placed in a caddy (bowl).

This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution.
