Alex Israel (b. 1982, Los Angeles, California). For the last decade, Israel’s art has embraced pop-culture as a global language. Trafficking in the invisible stardust of Hollywood and the detritus of film production—backdrops, sets and props—while riding the wave of the Internet and social media—as online talk-show host, eyewear and clothing designer, filmmaker and hologram—Israel’s art practice doubles as a brand, centered around a Southern Californian millennial lifestyle for which his iconic profile-in-shades-logo becomes a sly emblem, mobilized across high-visibility platforms from the worlds of art, entertainment, fashion and tech. Catherine Opie (b. 1961, Sandusky, Ohio) is one of the preeminent artists of her generation working with photography. She earned a BFA from SFAI in 1985 and an MFA from CalArts in 1988. Her work is held in over 50 major collections throughout the world. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including The Guggenheim Fellowship, The Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art Medal and a United States Artists Fellowship. She is the Lynda and Stewart Resnick endowed Chair in Art and Professor of Photography at UCLA.

Mark Grotjahn (b. 1968, Pasadena, California) combines gesture and geometry with abstraction and figuration in visually dynamic paintings, sculptures, and works on paper. Each of his series reflects a range of art-historical influences and unfolds in almost obsessive permutations. He received a BFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MFA from the University of California at Berkeley. Throughout his work, by finding variations within his immediately identifiable style, Grotjahn reveals the complexities of authorial gesture.

Carl Andre (b. 1935) redefined the parameters of abstract sculpture in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a highly influential voice in the American minimalist movement, recognized for his ordered linear and grid formats. In the early 1960s, Andre's creative focus shifted to writing poetry when he took a job as a freight brakeman and conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad. His poems echoed and extended the themes in his sculptural work, and his experience with the railroad significantly influenced his choice of materials in later years.
In this stunning catalog, which accompanies the first retrospective of Andre's work since 1970, the artist's legacy is examined in eleven essays by international scholars. The book presents a broad range of sculptures made over the past fifty years, including Andre's emblematic floor and corner pieces, highlighting his radical use of standardized units of industrial material such as timber planks, concrete blocks, and metal plates. A vast selection of Andre's previously unpublished concrete poems, together with letters, postcards, ephemera, and documentation of important installations, further complements our understanding of an essential figure in the history of contemporary art.

Since the 1970s, Chicago-based artist Barbara Kasten (born 1936) has developed her expansive practice of photography through the lens of many disciplines, including sculpture, painting, theater, textile and installation. Spanning her nearly five-decade engagement with abstraction, light and architectonic form, this publication situates Kasten's practice within current conversations around sculpture and photography.
Kasten was one of the first artists to be invited by Polaroid to use its new large-format film, and it was with this that she made many of her best-known works. In the mid-1980s she stepped out of the studio and began working with large architectural spaces that were symbolic of both economic and cultural capital.
Barbara Kasten: Stages is the first major survey of her work. The publication includes a biography of the artist, a conversation between Kasten and artist Liz Deschenes, and new essays by curator Alex Klein, and art historians Alex Kitnick and Jenni Sorkin.

Made with two layers of fabric, featuring a pocket on the inside with open sides, customers can insert their own filter for extra protection.
This mask shape is meant to fit a wide range of faces comfortably and securely, including children over 10 years old.

Pipilotti Rist (b. 1962, Rheintal, Switzerland) is a multimedia artist. She studied graphic design, illustration and photography at the Institute of Applied Arts in Vienna, as well as audiovisual communications and video at the School of Design in Basel. Rist is a pioneering video artist, she developed an aesthetic that takes its cues from television, advertising, and feminist video work. From her earliest tapes through her recent multi-media installations, Rist's body of work explores the intersection of sexuality, technology, and pop culture.
