This is the real deal. Dehen crafts each one of these pieces by hand using time-honored methods in their factory in Portland. If you love rocking high-top sneakers and raw denim, you can't go wrong with a varsity jacket. The color combo of brown and olive sold out for them within days, and they were gracious enough to give us a swing at them this time. This beauty might just be gone in a flash...again.

Fit Notes: Our first impression is that Dehen fits with a more American cut (i.e. larger). We've been proven wrong with the past few pieces though. We would say this brand has one of the truest fits on the market, if that's possible. Shop owner Tommy is wearing a medium in this picture, more as an experiment rather than a true attempt at sizing the jacket. This is his perfect size and is super easy to layer with. If you plan to layer at all with this jacket, stick with your true size. Tommy is 5'10," 168lbs with a 40" chest.

So we've been obsessed with Japan Blues Jackets after experiencing the Type 4 Ivory Coast piece. This one is quite a nice change-up. Being a Type II, it's a little more minimalist by nature. We're talking two, smaller chest flap pockets and no hand warmers like intended. This can be worn as a mid-layer in the colder months or a final layer in the spring/fall. The banana fiber is what really did it for us here. It gives the item a natural, non-forced snowy look that happens from all the loose banana fibers. What you achieve is instant texture gratification. We're also talking immediate softness! No stiff starchy beginnings on this piece. Just smooth sailing into Spring. These are fitting just a little different than the type 4 version, so pay close attention to the size chart.
This fabric is ethically source. Banana trees are usually harvested then burned yearly. This saves those trees to be turned into fabric, one 1.5-2 times longer staple than cotton. They worked tirelessly to mix this fiber with their Cote d'Ivoire denim.

We've admired this jacket from afar for some time now. Golden Bear is one of our favorite American Manufacturers, and they went ahead and knocked this right out of the park for Taylor Stitch. The original design was one of the owner's father's jacket that was reproduced for Taylor Stitch. They've been producing it for long enough to see how it ages, and trust us...it's good. This will darken and patina with wear like nothing else in the lineup. The color is initially a bright whiskey that changes to a deep honey brown eventually. With just under a century in production, you can trust Golden Bear to do everything the right way.

Fit Notes: Buy your true size in this jacket. Very few people will be able to or want to size down in this jacket like shop owner Tommy did for the pictures. Ultimately, both jackets fit...he just likes the way the 38 fits better. But to be honest, there aren't pictures of it zipped up, because it looks quite silly for the purpose of pictures. But in reality, a true moto jacket is supposed to be this tight. As long as you still have room to reach, which he does because of the bi-swing back, you should go tight. But ultimately, you should really buy your true size. Tommy is 5'10," 170lbs with a 40" chest.

The Bexley Jacket is what hooked us from the beginning. We love waxed jackets as it is, but introduce to a brand that's been making product in England for over 200 years and it's over for us. When we approached Tom from Peregrine about a custom color, he was all over it. We have always loved the way tan, or khaki looks when it's waxed. It seemed like a no-brainer to do a special edition one for our anniversary.
This piece comes with tons of internal pockets for storage, a grey cotton lining, and a Union Jack to boot. You've also got a zipper front and snap button flap for even more windproofing. You'll notice a brown moleskin liner on the zipper placket and neck. You've also got the belted neck for extra windproofing. We've gone the extra mile by developing a custom "7 Year Anniversary Club" woven label that our friends at Third Mark Supply Sewed on for us. This iconic blend of jackets grabbed us right away. It's got the pleating of a jacket from late 1800's and early 1900's. They changed the bar tacks on this piece to round tacks, which we think is an iconic touch. The origins of this style are pretty incredible. It was typically used so farmers could let out their pleating in the winter when they had packed on the pounds to stay warm. They mixed it up quite a bit by adding a zipper and hand warmer pockets making it more like a trucker. The polished silver snaps are also an incredible touch. And, you can't forget the adjustable snaps in the back. This thing is a true icon. With that single rinse, its comfy from the get which is something we could all use a little more of right now. We love the square pockets, we love the leather zipper pull, and we love the contrast stitching. The jacket is grail. Don't let it get away.

HAIRSHEEP is a thin and soft leather with high gloss. The finest hairsheep originates from the high altitude in Ethiopia and is tanned and dyed in Naples.
UNLINED gloves are suited for early autumn before the first days with minus degrees.

Well, this one has really done it. This one put us over the top. Our denim nerd flags are flying. My goodness did these turn out well. When we asked Lawrence to do this, we had an idea of how they would look...but this blew us away. Dark denim and brown leather are always going to be a staple. Rarely, do you see them on a bag like this. Even rarer, you see this level of detailed work. The work tote has been a favorite in the past, but this denim takes it to an entirely new level. This bag is everything we wanted and more. And, now it will forever be part of our 7 Year Anniversary collection.
Horse and Anchor is a one-man job. He does all of this by hand and no two bags are ever exactly alike. He's using vintage materials (yay sustainability) and artisan handcrafting methods to make these bags. I think the vintage canvas and perfectly aged leather speak to everyone's affinity for the past. The designs and details are just beyond the pale of comparison. When we saw them stacked up at the Inspiration Trade show in LA, it was game over.

These zipper shoulder bags are extremely special. Lawrence puts a level of care into every bag...hopefully our other descriptions have pointed that out. But when you find a fabric like this - wow! The crackled, hand-painted stencil is gorgeous. It's perfectly placed amongst its fabric brethren. We're talking supple leather for the base, sturdy leather for the straps, brass/copper hardware, and selvedge denim for a lining. Honestly, that would probably be enough for us, but he goes above and beyond. Selvedge tickers accent the pocket bags on the inside for extra storage. Then, you've got his hand-hammered rivets and signature H&A coin stamp to top this whole thing off. This one is the one guys.

We knew the instant we laid hands on these watch caps that they were coming home to the shop. The ability to wear them both single cuffed and double cuffed is a huge selling point. Dehen has used their tried and true infamous knitting machines for these, but with an alternative stitch for a softer hand feel. Notice the zig-zag stitch at the top of the cuff...one of the most appealing details in our opinion.

TCB - Black Cat Jacket - Denim - One Wash
You may be asking yourself why Two Cat's Brand (TCB) is so special. Well, beyond all the obvious details, there's a story. This is a brand that truly does what they love. Most things have a rhyme and reason, but sometimes they just create what suits their needs. The vintage, reproduction inspiration behind the brand is clearly visible. They're honoring styles from the '30s-'60s with a few items dating pre-1900's. Sometimes they create fantasy or future (e.g. present) cuts that didn't exist in the past, but the bulk of their work is true reproduction. That's what we went with on this round. You may also be asking, why such a low price compared to other Japanese brands. This is due to the fact that everything besides the milling of the fabric is done in-house. There is no outsourcing for cutting or sewing. In Kojima, the denim capital of Japan sits their vertically integrated factory where they do: fabric cutting, single stitch sewing, lapping seam sewing, applying buttons and rivets, and much, much more. We are so excited to introduce you to TCB.
They've created this black cat jacket in reverence of a vintage chore jacket from TCB archives. The asymmetrical pocket shapes and the raglan sleeves are often seen as the primary features for this type of jacket from the '20s. The fabric was invented with much respect to the Cowboy Branded J denim. With thin warps and wefts woven very densely, light but durable fabric was possible. This jacket is weighted at 10oz, making for a very comfortable initial fit. The one-wash also takes some edge off. (Yarn count: both 10)

We’ve admired Moonstar from a distance for some time now. The story of the Moonstar factory in Kyusyu, Japan is now one of legend. The attention to detail and fine crafting is unmatched in the industry. As we made our transition from solely a boot company to sneakers, we knew we must have the best. The process of ka-ryu or vulcanization has been perfected in their factory in Kurume since the companies inception in 1873. The canvas uppers are sewn slowly with precision while the rubber strips and soles are carefully inlaid to prepare for their infamous vulcanization process. The shoes are heated to 120° for 70 minutes making the rubber soft and gummy for your walking pleasure. These gym classic lows are a truly iconic look, especially if you show a little ankle. Fit Notes: So here's the skinny. People get very confused about sizing, and the best way we know to remedy that is by comparing them to other shoes. T hese shoes are known to run pretty true with just a slight bit more room in the toe box than Shoes Like Pottery. You might be able to get away with sizing down without feeling such a pinch from the rubber toe cap on this one. Take your typical Converse Chuck 70 and stick with that. Essentially, if you land in between at an 8.5, take the next size up to a 9. Shop owner Tommy is wearing very low profile socks with size 8's in the picture. *He is typically an 8.5 in Converse. In Red Wing, he wears an 8 in almost every last.*  Without an additional orthotic insole, he can wear a size 8 from SLP, but with an insole and thicker socks, he would have to size up to a 9. So, essentially if you were to take these shoes out of the box, and slip them on with no sock and no insert, you're going to go with your true Red Wing boot size which may mean sizing down if you're an in-betweener. If you plan to wear your Chups or thick wool socks with these, you'll be able to size up! That's the best we've got on these and we hope it helps. Reach out with any questions.
