I dreamed, as a teen, of moving away to a big city, where everything and everyone was “better” and “cooler”. You know, don’t a lot of us have this same dream growing up? In fact, I did move away for several years... only to come back. NC is such a vibrant, diverse and overwhelmingly beautiful state that I am DAMN PROUD to call home. It’s where I started my business 16 years ago. It’s where I met my husband and started a family. It’s where I dream about our future! It’s in my blood! In it’s honor, we made this t-shirt to represent it’s resilience and overall BADASSERY!

We are donating profits to Nourish N.C. These guys are truly making a difference in children’s lives and are true heroes in our community!!! They need us now, more than ever. Hurricane Florence really did a number on NC. When schools are out, that means that many children have no food until school is back in session. These guys make sure these children have access to nourishment, YEAR ROUND! I'm tearing up just writing this.

We have teamed up with NC born and raised artist and long time friend, Lauren Adams to make our dreams come true!!! I could not think of a better person to illustrate our state flower!
Lauren Frances Adams was born and raised in Snow Hill, North Carolina. She is a painter and installation artist that lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland, where she teaches at Maryland Institute College of Art. She met Jessie Williams while attending North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem at the end of the last century. (Damn! We are getting old!) Lauren’s work is featured at the Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill, N.C. through March 2019. She’s trying to swear less.

The Bird of Paradise is a gorgeous tropical plant, and makes for a lovely addition to any tropical garden. It is also known by its scientific name, Strelitzia. It is commonly referred to as a bird of paradise due to the flower and its resemblance to a bird of the same name.
This pin was inspired by my first trip to Maui. Along the Road to Hana you can see a number of Split Leaf Philodendrens climbing trees, forests filled with towering Bamboo, and the bright and beautiful Bird of Paradise surrounded by its lush, dark green leaves. The card back is a photo that I took while I was there. You can also see a few White Birds of Paradise flowers at the base of the card back.
