"This book captures the raw moment of inception behind a designer’s collection. Assemblage 6 started off with almost 300 maquettes: chairs, lamps, stools, or daybeds made of wire, cardboard, tape, and canvas, or the everyday materials to be found in Faye Toogood’s studio. But having lined up these rather crude, almost childlike maquettes, the collection, in essence, was decided. Seventeen were chosen to be scaled up to life-size works, and here we have an immersive journey through all the original maquettes and their occasional passage into the real world of furniture/sculpture, a book that plays with the sense of dissimulation evident in the final artworks, or the fact that some objects are not always what they seem at first glance.
The Man Booker–nominated author Sophie Mackintosh opens with this idea in her short story, while the book closes on an essay by the independent writer and curator Glenn Adamson, who ultimately provides context for the collection and process as a whole."

"This is the first monograph to celebrate the work of acclaimed designer Michael Anastassiades and takes an exhibition held in early 2019 as a starting point for exploring his approach to design. There, carefully laid out displays—things that Michael had unearthed in nature or sourced from his own collections—formed a constellation of objects and a syntax of ‘things that go together’. This book might be considered yet one more layer in this universe of objects and meaning.
Together with photos of the exhibition, a collection of essays reflects on Anastassiades’s early years in Cyprus, the influence of its natural environment and local artistic figures, his interest in exploring the psychological connection that humans share with the objects around them, and his appreciation of form and scale, but also unpredictability, in nature and design.

Things That Go Together- Michael Anastassiades

Praxis, Agustín Hernández is the fourth book in a series devoted to some of our favourite architects, the houses they build, and the stories behind them.

Born in 1924, Agustín Hernández came of age as an architect in Mexico as modernist ideas coalesced with a renewed pride in the country’s past. He was a frontrunner in combining the symbols, myths, and urban planning principles of pre-Columbian civilisations to create imposing architectural monuments that even today retain their avant-garde nature—from the military academy he built as a modern-day Mayan ceremonial ground to the remote meditation centre commissioned by his sister, based on the symbolism of the snake, and the studio-home that he built for himself in 1975: Praxis, a geometric treehouse that still towers over the Bosques de las Lomas neighbourhood of Mexico City.
