The unbleached, undyed kraft paper used for these journal refills is made from the by-products of forest maintenance (branches and tops of trees, wood that has been pruned or thinned) and wood processing (falls and sawmill wastes) of the maritime pine forests of Gascogne, France.

In the 1930s, La Compagnie du Kraft started making notebooks in France for forest rangers and lumberjacks. Crafted from leather and undyed kraft paper, they were built to be rugged and repairable.

Sparrow Scarf

This soap dish from Andrée Jardin is crafted from heat-treated ash wood. Thermo-treating the ash wood with high temperature steam gives it its beautiful caramel brown color, while making it more resistant to humidity. Ridges carved into the dish allow for water to drain away, and it is perfectly shaped to hold our nailbrush and a bar of soap, sold separately.

The Chemex coffee maker was created in 1939 by famed inventor Peter J. Schlumbohm. Applying his knowledge of filtration and extraction, Mr. Schlumbohm was able to craft the vessel that would pour the perfect cup of coffee.
