Incredibly charming porcelain rabbit incense holder from Nippon Kodo, one of our favorite incense manufacturers in Japan with a history dating back to 1575. Made of white porcelain with a light crackle glaze and blue details, the rabbit sits on a removable base which holds both stick and cone incense  The fine wisp of fragrant smoke is released behind the ears.  Lovely with Aloeswood Incense.

No. 47, The Queen's Guard

A tea created for and inspired by the magnificent gardens at Charleston, the country residence of Bloomsbury artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, our tea pays tribute to the cultivated yet bohemian spirit of the times. In a blend of Ceylon black tea subtly enveloped in a cloud of chamomile, rose geranium and lavender, we wish you the same "dithering blaze of flowers and butterflies and apples" we find in this brew.

No. 40, Charleston

Our organic hibiscus tea, or Flor de Jamaica, as it is known in Central America, is crafted from the dried crimson petals of the hibiscus flower. This ravishing, scarlet-hued brew, pleasantly tart and high in vitamin C, is equally delicious hot or over ice. Allegedly, Cleopatra adored hibiscus tea, believing it to enhance her legendary beauty. Viable or not, it tastes divine as a base for blending or as a treat all its own.

A Moroccan paradise of organic gunpowder green tea and vibrant mint with a stylish citrus twist. Beautifully fragrant while enjoyed hot, Majorelle Mint is also marvelously refreshing iced. We suggest increasing the savoir-faire quotient by oh-so-casually tossing a few fresh sprigs of mint into the tea pot. Kaftan, optional, but recommended.

Beth Katz is the creative force behind Mt. Washington Pottery, an heirloom quality collection of functional and decorative ceramics.
The 1970’s hippie enclave of Los Angeles’ Topanga Canyon is where Beth grew up and was introduced to the art of ceramics. Wanting to pursue a career in fashion design she worked for her fathers’ clothing company during her summers off from school. After successful careers as a makeup artist for fashion, advertising, film and television and then as the creative director for a national women’s magazine, Beth returned to graduate school to study spiritual psychology in search of what was next. Her graduate studies led her to pursuing her joy, turning her lifelong hobby into her life’s work.
The freedom of her childhood, the diverse and wild Southern California landscape, her experiences in fashion and commercial design combined with the ethos of traditional Japanese and modern Scandinavian design, culminate in the organic elegant simplicity that is Beth’s work.
Due to the nature of ceramic materials pieces may vary in color. As each piece is made by hand slight imperfections do occur but is part of the beauty of a unique object.

Yerba Mate, the legendary libation of gauchos and vaqueros working the South American lowlands, is traditionally sipped from a mate gourd and bombilla. (Ideally this scenario would include vintage South American textiles and a 19th century estancia.) The hand-crafted hollow calabash gourd will mature beautifully over the years adding unique nuance to each cup. The bombilla, a perforated straw, performs as a light filter. The gourd must be seasoned, or "cured," prior to using.
Dimensions: Gourds naturally vary in size and shape, but most are the size of a medium apple. The bombilla is 16cm in length.
How to cure the gourd:

Scrape the dry, flaky material from the inside of the gourd with a spoon.
Fill the gourd with loose yerba mate.
Pour in hot water.
Let the gourd sit for 24 hours.
Empty the gourd and scrape inside again.
Rinse well.
Repeat this process once again, rinsing well at finish.

Your gourd is now ready to use! Remember the following notes to keep the gourd in good shape for years to come:

Do not use soap or a dishwasher when cleaning the gourd. A thorough rinse is sufficient.
Do not leave used tea leaves in the gourd for extended periods after use.
Empty gourd after use, rinse well, and allow to dry thoroughly in between uses.
If you use additional herbs or flavors in your gourd, your gourd will acquire those flavors afterward.
It is natural for the inner walls of your gourd to stain greenish-black over time.

Handmade by a brother-sister team in the historic, hilltop village of Pienza in Tuscany overlooking vineyards, olive groves, cypress walks, and golden-green fields of grain, the Pienza collection is an exemplary touchstone of traditional Renaissance glassblowing techniques and modern Italian urbanism .
Give your table top a rose-colored tint with these Pienza tumblers. At its heart colored glassware is a glimpse into the ethereal -- capturing not the color of a rose, a peach, or a plum per se but putting into delicious suspension the tint of the shadow of a rose, a peach, or a plum.
And the inspired addition of a dimpled pedestal will help to keep your beverages chilled longer. Very similar to the practice of punting on wine bottles in fact, the dimpled base creates more glass surface area which when served on the rocks allows the glass' content to stay cooler longer.

Beautiful tools make the process a pleasure. Kabazaiku, or cherry bark ware, has been woven into the history of northern Honshu for generations. In fact, 18th century Samurai crafted cherry bark products as a secondary vocation. It is a labor intensive process requiring the bark of wild cherry trees; the bark of cultivated cherry trees is not tough enough.
Our cherry bark tea scoop elevates tea time. The delicate spoons will take on a gentle burnished patina over time.
