Hecho was created by a  group of 12 women artisans who collaborated on a range of products – baskets, bags, home wares, hand woven and embroidered textiles and more. The group formed in 1988 as a means to source and share ideas, and effectively support the women in their small community in Mexico.
Used in spas the world over, dry brushing is a traditional technique that helps to slough dead cells, reduces the appearance of cellulite, cleanses the lymphatic system, supports digestion, increase energy, tightens skin and stimulates circulation. In addition to this, our artisan partners claim that these brushes help to encourage a healthy immune system and a healthy heart. Simply use daily – preferably during the morning – by dry brushing the entire body, with added pressure on areas with thicker skin like the feet, then rinse the body with both hot and cold water. The brush is meant to be used dry only, and is long enough to reach the back for scrubbing.
Care This piece is only for use as a dry brush. Water will destroy the bristles irreparably. For best results, the brush can be moved across the body in firm, small strokes in an upwards or circular motion towards the heart. With the daily addition of this ritual for 3 – 5 minutes a day, skin will be substantially softer and firmer, and overall health improved.

Originally started in 2010 with a group of 30 women, this project maintains a focus on supporting the local economy through work opportunities that range from raising cotton crops to weaving and embroidery work. The brown and white cotton that is used to produce their textiles is native to the Mexican states of Oaxaca and Guerrero. In addition to using strictly organic cotton, they only use natural dyes that are not harmful to the environment. The group works with over 200 spinners who produce their handmade cotton, with the primary focus of their collective project being to support the economy of the local community by upholding cultural traditions and paying a living wage in the process. Further to this, the group also moves to educate the public about the toxicity of the industrial textile industry.
