By 2002, millennium fever had run its course. After years of relentless hype about Y2K and the future, a lot of people were ready to seriously embrace retro style again. Of course, when you’re talking about performance technology, going 25 or 30 years back in time is, well, inadvisable, so Nike came up with an ingenious solution that allowed them to meld a funky, 1970s aesthetic with state-of-the-art tech: The Roswell Rayguns ad campaign.
This three-part commercial series presented an alternate reality, in which a struggling ABA franchise, the Roswell Rayguns, makes some “key trades” for present day stars like Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Paul Pierce, Baron Davis, and Jermaine O’Neal, who proceed to dominate their 1970s opposition with shoes and skills that lived up to the out of this world atmosphere of the Roswell name. The ads were a hit at the time, a cult favorite ever since, and even generated a very limited edition Rayguns SB Dunk all the way back in 2005.
The new Nike Rayguns collection makes like a declassified UFO video, and releases the extraterrestrial goodness directly to the public, with a new range of sportswear essentials and footwear featuring the livery of the Roswell Rayguns. The truth isn’t just out there, it’s available now.

Visual artist Matt McCormick teams up with friend Jered Vargas for a line of Americana-themed apparel based around McCormick's paintings. By juxtaposing archetypal iconography commonly assoicated with the Old West against provocative seemingly disparate elements, McCormick and company provide a cynical social commentary on Hollywood, advertising and the constant misrepresentation of the American West.
With their latest capsule collection, One of These Days looks toward the fascinating history of ths song, "Blue Moon." 2021 is the 60th anniversary of "the track becoming an international #1 hit single. The Marcels released their classic doo-wop rendition of the standard ballad and brought the almost cartoon-like soda fountain culture of America to audiences around the world. The song, however, was first released back in 1934 and had already reached American acclaim in 1949 twice by Mel Torme and Billy Eckstine. "Blue Moon" resonates deeply with One of These Days for its fluidity across multiple genres and generations with its ability to be recontexualized by so many different artists. From Sam Cooke to Bob Dylan, the song perfectly encapsulates the timeless elements of American culture that One of These Days strives to speak to and represent.

Carhartt made their name by providing work garments for heavy industry. We’re talking molten steel, chainsaws, railroad spikes, arc welders type of heavy industry. The rugged durability and simple, utilitarian aesthetic made Carhartt a hit beyond the world of hard hats and lunch pails.
In the 1980s, denim entrepreneur Edwin Faeh began importing and expanding Carhartt to Europe. Ultimately, in 1996, he struck a major deal to manufacture Carhartt branded clothing outside of the United States under the name Carhartt 'Work In Progress'. The W.I.P. label takes the traditional Carhartt approach to construction and form, and applies it to a range of fashion-oriented garments and accessories, incorporating European-inspired designs with long-standing, renowned styles. Although the tailoring may have downtown in mind, the quality remains pure job site.
The University Sweat is made from unbrushed, 9.4 oz cotton. The item has been garment washed, for increased comfort and a more complex color configuration. Features a graphic Carhartt script print across the front.

The state of the world over the past year-plus has upended everything from mundane daily routines to the very conceptions of what ‘normal’ looks like. Engineered Garments have not been exempted from this disruption, as some of their defining features: meticulous tailoring and tactical inspired functionality for the on-the-go world traveler, have been hamstrung by the necessity of staying home.

For their Spring/Summer 2021 collection, Daiki Suzuki has faced this challenged head-on, and responded with decontracte. The one-to-one translation is ‘relaxed’ or ‘leisurely,’ but the broader implications also include ‘casual’ and ‘informal,’ suggesting an ease of spirit to match the unhurried pace of action.
The utilitarian function and fastidious craft that stand behind the ‘Engineered’ in Engineered Garments have been applied to looser, relaxed silhouettes, featuring a globetrotting array of patterns (florals, madras plaid, Breton stripes) and materials.
The Drawstring Pant Cotton Ripstop by Engineered Garments is a more relaxed take on an everyday pant. Even thought its a relaxed shape, the high count twill is soft to the touch however holds its form, featuring elasticated waist with drawcord, two hand pockets, a zipped side utility pocket on the right leg and a single rear zipped pocket.
