Stacked up against the competition, the stackable Tio Stool is a most handsome winner with its elongated lines and curved seat. For indoor as well as outdoor use and available in 2 sitting heights, the slender legs and graphic lines belie its inherent strength. And the 10 thoughtful colors, in durable polyester powder-coated galvanized metal wire, mean there's a choice for everyone. (Not to mention the optional padded seat, available separately.) From tables to seating, the extensive Tio collection is the brainchild of Brit Chris Martin and his Swedish design partner Magnus Elebäck for their Stockholm-based firm, Massproductions. Their aim is to turn out high-quality, tactile furniture with a modernist spirit. "Our goal is to use industrial processes to create furniture which people can get excited about," says Chris. "Something that gives them pride of ownership. You can do that with a hand-crafted piece. But for us the satisfaction comes from achieving it with an industrially produced article."
