A new technique for Tom Kemp, this hand thrown porcelain vessel with has black porcelain slip brushstroke and no glaze.  The striking minimal form is a three dimensional piece of art, with Toms distinctive markings creating a piece that not only tells the story of its making, recording every intricacy of movements made but also gives the observer endless angles of interest.

Largely self-taught, ceramicist Tom Kemp says that after taking weekend courses at Turning Earth he never looked back. Working mainly in porcelain and with an underlying interest and passion for calligraphy and Roman sign writing, Tom creates exquisite minimal forms which are then brought to life what is usually just a single brush stroke.
Tom has experimented with many different tools for mark making, working to exclude any recognisable language and focus on movements, graphical and bodily relationship, universal aspects of writing that are unspecific to any group.
