Crafted in the spirit of Bauhaus textiles and created a century after the start of that famous school of design, the Heddle placemat by Chilewich delves into the intersection of stitching and shading. Sections of more graphic, drifting yarns are intermingled with flat-woven fields of muted stripes. Consisting of about 50% more yarns than their signature Basketweave, this cheerfully colored weave is the weightiest fabric Chilewich has ever prepared for the table.

A central component of the loom upon which Heddle was produced gives this placemat its name. A weaver threads every warp yarn on a loom through the eye of a heddle in a process that closely mirrors working with a sewing needle. Raising and lowering these heddles in a certain intentional sequence generates a great variety of patterns in the weave. Heddle is safe for both indoor and outdoor use, resilient, and easy to wash.
