TCB - 50's Jeans - Indigo One Wash
You may be asking yourself why Two Cat's Brand (TCB) is so special. Well, beyond all the obvious details, there's a story. This is a brand that truly does what they love. Most things have a rhyme and reason, but sometimes they just create what suits their needs. The vintage, reproduction inspiration behind the brand is clearly visible. They're honoring styles from the '30s-'60s with a few items dating pre-1900's. Sometimes they create fantasy or future (e.g. present) cuts that didn't exist in the past, but the bulk of their work is true reproduction. That's what we went with on this round. You may also be asking, why such a low price compared to other Japanese brands. This is due to the fact that everything besides the milling of the fabric is done in-house. There is no outsourcing for cutting or sewing. In Kojima, the denim capital of Japan sits their vertically integrated factory where they do: fabric cutting, single stitch sewing, lapping seam sewing, applying buttons and rivets, and much, much more. We are so excited to introduce you to TCB.
For this pair of jeans, TCB referred to the vintage piece from the late 50's. This is going to be the straightest cut we've ever carried in the shop. They're high waisted with just the slightest amount of taper at the hem. Other than that, as you can see in the pictures, these are built to wear like a true 50's pair of denim - lots of room in the calves, knee, and ankle.

*Fit Notes: You’ll notice garment waist measurement is smaller than your usual tag size at James Dant. That's why we started with 32. This has much to do with the fact that this style has a higher rise than a majority of our lower to mid-rise styles. Instead of fitting you at your widest on the hip bones, this style usually rises to above the hip bones, thus allowing a smaller measurement since this part of the body is softer than directly over the hips. The fabric the TCB 50's is made from will relax after a few days of use, so if you find your new jeans snug at first you can expect a half-inch to full inch of stretch in areas prone to body movement.
