Olio E Osso Crema is just what we were hoping for from founder Paola LaMorticella, who has been a celebrity makeup artist for 25 years and really knows her stuff. We already adored Olio E Osso’s Tinted Balms —our go-to for quick, super sheer hints of color that can be quickly swept onto cheeks and lips — so, when Paola revealed she was working on a lipstick, we were beside ourselves with excitement. When said lipstick was finally ready, it was even better than we had hoped; well worth the (impatient, on our end) several months of waiting.
The first thing we noticed was the surprisingly and laudably short list of carefully chosen, painstakingly sourced ingredients: as Paula puts it, “I’m on a mission to make the best, creamiest products with the least amount of ingredients…it helps avoid irritants in the formulas, and as a small company, it’s easier to control the supply chain and figure out how things are sourced.”
With its blend of olive oil, sunflower seed oil, and beeswax, Crema Lipstick is creamy, nourishing, and just pigmented enough to give a satisfying pop of color in one swipe, yet beautifully buildable. And the shades are so Paola: Crema’s three introductory shades cover a satisfying spectrum and truly work on all skin tones. As she has told us, “It’s about the look you’re going for — the feeling.”
Go for Ametista if you want a purple plum shade that is rich and royal. Go for Begonia if you want a perfect orange shade with a slightly red hue that is bright and energetic — the perfect punch of color. Go for Ibisco if you want a brightly-hued, hibiscus inspired, statement-making light pink. Go for Marrone if you want a warm, richly-hued copper brown, full of depth and color. Go for Palissandro if you want a cool-toned mauve that is neutral but noticeable. Go for Rubino if you want a ruby-hued red, full of bright, long-lasting, bold color.
