Description

This expansive wall-high unit revolves around the notion of elegant wooden trays acting as shelves. Berlin-based Studio Hanne Willmann cleverly devises a clean-lined frame in black powder-coated steel, holding trays that can be arrayed as desired with the shorter ones leaving open spaces for placing taller objects. Description

As a British-born designer now based in Stockholm, it's easy to see the influence of both environments in John Astbury's play on classical architectural accents such as pillars and dentils in his wall shelf. Column reinterprets those forms in either a silvery aluminum version or a black anodized aluminum and oiled-walnut option. From England, he draws on impressions of ornate buildings that are then finessed in a spare Scandi style.
